Match overview

Kirklareli set the tone immediately, racing to a 27-14 lead after the first quarter. The second period was more competitive, but Kirklareli still won it 22-17 to take a 49-31 advantage into halftime. Mersin needed a strong response after the break, but instead Kirklareli extended the lead with a 23-15 third quarter, moving ahead 72-46.

The final quarter was played with the result largely settled. Mersin won the period 16-19, but the outcome had already been decided. Kirklareli’s 91-62 victory was built on efficient scoring, defensive pressure, and a balanced offensive approach that kept Mersin guessing throughout the evening.

How Kirklareli Women dominated

Kirklareli’s offense was sharp from the opening minutes. The visitors moved the ball quickly, attacked closeouts, and punished Mersin on the fast break. Their 27-point first quarter set the tone and forced the hosts to play from behind for the rest of the game.

Defensively, Kirklareli were equally impressive. They pressured Mersin’s ball-handlers, contested shots, and limited easy looks in the paint. The result was a first half in which Mersin managed only 31 points while Kirklareli built a substantial cushion.

Key moments

• Opening burst: Kirklareli’s 27-14 first quarter established immediate control.
• Halftime separation: A 22-17 second period pushed the lead to 18 points and forced Mersin to chase the game.
• Third-quarter closeout: Kirklareli’s 23-15 run after halftime removed any realistic hope of a Mersin comeback.

Tactical story

Mersin Basketbol Women struggled to contain Kirklareli’s transition game. Whenever the visitors secured a defensive rebound, they pushed the ball quickly and created numerical advantages. In the half court, Kirklareli used patient ball movement to find open shooters and cutters, making it difficult for Mersin to protect the rim and the perimeter at the same time.

Mersin had some positive moments in the final quarter, but the game had already slipped away. The hosts will need to address their first-half defensive intensity and rebounding if they are to compete more effectively in upcoming Turkish Women’s Basketball League fixtures.

Standout performers and league impact

Kirklareli’s balanced scoring was a major strength. Multiple players contributed on offense, which prevented Mersin from focusing on a single scorer. The visitors also controlled the glass and won the battle of extra possessions, a key factor in a 29-point win.

For Kirklareli Women, the 91-62 result is a statement road victory and an important boost in the league standings. It highlights the team’s ability to score at a high rate while maintaining defensive discipline. For Mersin Basketbol Women, the defeat offers clear areas for improvement, particularly in transition defense and first-quarter execution. The team will need a sharper start in its next outing to avoid falling into a similar early deficit.
