Kirklareli Women secured an 82-74 home victory over Burhaniye Belediye Women in the Turkish Women's Basketball League, using a decisive second-half surge to turn a competitive matchup into a valuable result. The win underlined Kirklareli’s ability to control the game on their home floor, while Burhaniye Belediye left with a performance that had encouraging stretches but not enough late stops.

Match overview

The game opened at a brisk pace, with both teams trading baskets and testing each other’s defensive rotations. Kirklareli held a narrow 20-18 edge after the first quarter, but Burhaniye Belediye responded well in the second period, scoring 21 points and briefly unsettling the hosts’ rhythm. At halftime, the margin was tight, and the contest looked likely to be decided by whichever team could string together defensive stops in the third quarter.

That response came from Kirklareli. A 24-16 third-quarter advantage created the separation that ultimately decided the game. Burhaniye Belediye fought back in the final period and matched the hosts for long stretches, but Kirklareli’s composure at the free-throw line and ability to generate quality shots late kept the visitors at arm’s length.

Key moments

The turning point arrived in the third quarter, when Kirklareli combined aggressive perimeter defense with quick transition attacks. A run of consecutive stops forced Burhaniye Belediye into rushed attempts, and the hosts converted those misses into points at the other end. The burst changed the scoreboard and, more importantly, changed the tempo: Burhaniye Belediye had been comfortable in a back-and-forth game, but Kirklareli made the contest feel more physical and more demanding.

Even after Burhaniye Belediye trimmed the deficit in the fourth, Kirklareli had an answer. Their half-court execution in the final five minutes was steady, and they avoided the turnover-prone stretch that could have reopened the door.

Tactical story

Kirklareli’s success came from balance. They attacked the paint enough to force defensive help, then moved the ball to open shooters when Burhaniye Belediye collapsed. On defense, the hosts did a better job in the second half of containing dribble penetration and contesting second-chance opportunities. Burhaniye Belediye remained dangerous in transition and found some success when they played with pace, but they could not sustain that advantage once Kirklareli settled into their half-court shell.

Standout areas

• Third-quarter control: Kirklareli’s 24-16 period was the clearest difference between the teams.
• Bench contribution: The hosts received useful minutes from their rotation, helping maintain energy on both ends.
• Late-game discipline: Kirklareli protected the lead with sensible shot selection and timely free throws.
• Burhaniye’s resilience: The visitors kept competing in the fourth but could not produce enough defensive stops.

League impact

The 82-74 win gives Kirklareli Women an important home result in the Turkish Women's Basketball League and reinforces the value of defending home court in a competitive domestic season. For Burhaniye Belediye Women, the defeat is a reminder that strong spells must be converted into consistent defensive pressure. The final score reflects a game that was close for long stretches, but Kirklareli’s third-quarter run and late poise made the difference.
