Founded in 2006 as an expansion franchise, the team's name and arrow-themed logo reflected the local historical figure Chikamatsu Monzaemon. The Five Arrows had a period of competitiveness in the late 2000s, making the bj League playoffs on multiple occasions behind the scoring of imports like Jeff Newton and Cohey Aoki.
