Key moments

Boncourt briefly trimmed the gap to 24-18 midway through the second quarter, but Aarau responded with a 10-4 run to close the half and restore control. The third quarter proved decisive: Aarau began with a 9-2 burst, forced several contested shots, and turned defensive stops into transition points. Boncourt never recovered, and Aarau’s lead remained comfortable throughout the fourth quarter.

Tactical story

Aarau’s half-court defense was the foundation of the win. The hosts limited Boncourt’s driving lanes, contested perimeter looks, and controlled the defensive glass to prevent second-chance points. Offensively, Aarau played with patience, using ball movement to create inside scoring opportunities and open catch-and-shoot chances. Boncourt’s offense often stalled late in the shot clock, and its turnovers allowed Aarau to dictate the tempo.

Standout performers

Aarau’s leading scorer finished with 18 points and eight rebounds, while the point guard added 12 points and six assists. The bench provided energy on the defensive end and helped maintain the lead through the second and fourth quarters. Boncourt’s top scorer managed 14 points, but the visitors lacked a consistent secondary threat. Aarau’s balanced attack and disciplined defense made the difference in a game that was never truly close after halftime.

Season impact

The win gives Aarau valuable momentum in the early NLB standings and reinforces the club’s defensive identity. In a league where road wins are precious and point differential can matter, a 22-point home victory is a useful statement. Boncourt, meanwhile, will look to rediscover its offensive rhythm before the next round. The result also adds another chapter to the head-to-head history between the two clubs, with Aarau holding the upper hand on this occasion.
