Ostersund Women secured a hard-fought 92-89 road victory over Uppsala Basket Women in the Svenska Basketligan Dam on October 17, 2026, winning a game that remained tense until the final possession. The three-point margin reflected a contest full of lead changes, momentum swings, and clutch shot-making, with Ostersund doing just enough in the closing minutes to leave Uppsala with the win.

Match overview

The game was played at a high pace from the opening quarter, with both teams willing to push the ball and attack early in the shot clock. Uppsala used their home crowd to establish an early rhythm, but Ostersund answered with timely three-point shooting and strong work on the offensive glass. Neither side managed to build a double-digit lead, and the score remained tight through halftime and into the fourth quarter.

Ostersund held a narrow advantage after three quarters and then survived a late Uppsala surge. The final minute featured free throws, a missed tying attempt from beyond the arc, and a defensive stand that sealed the result for the visitors.

Key moments

• Uppsala opened strongly in front of their home fans, but Ostersund responded with an 8-0 run to settle the game.
• A late third-quarter burst gave Ostersund a five-point cushion entering the final period.
• Uppsala cut the deficit to one possession in the last two minutes, forcing Ostersund to execute under pressure.
• Ostersund converted key free throws in the final seconds, while Uppsala’s potential game-tying three-pointer rimmed out.

Tactical story

Ostersund’s ability to score from beyond the arc and create second-chance points proved decisive. They moved the ball well against Uppsala’s switching defense and found open shooters when the defense collapsed. Their offensive rebounding was particularly important, extending possessions and preventing Uppsala from building momentum in transition.

Uppsala played with energy and aggression, but costly turnovers in the middle quarters allowed Ostersund to stay within striking distance. In the final period, Uppsala’s half-court offense became more predictable, relying on individual drives rather than the ball movement that had worked earlier. Ostersund’s defense tightened at the right moment, contesting shots and forcing Uppsala into difficult attempts.

Standout performers

Ostersund’s Elin Johansson led the way with 24 points and six assists, controlling the pace and hitting several important shots in the fourth quarter. Maja Lindstrom added 18 points and 10 rebounds, giving Ostersund a strong inside-outside balance. For Uppsala, Sara Nilsson scored 21 points and kept her team in contention, but the home side could not find enough late stops.

Standings and season impact

The win gives Ostersund a valuable road result in the Svenska Basketligan Dam standings and reinforces their ability to win close games. For Uppsala, the loss is a frustrating one, but the narrow margin suggests they remain competitive in the upper part of the table. Both teams will take lessons from a game that was decided by execution in the final two minutes.
