Key moments

The decisive stretch came late in the second quarter and early in the third. Uppsala closed the first half with a run that pushed the lead to 16, then opened the third quarter with another burst to make it a 20-point game. AIK tried to respond from the perimeter, but Uppsala’s closeouts were quick and the defensive rebounds were secure. By the time the fourth quarter began, the hosts were firmly in control.

Uppsala’s transition game was especially effective. Each defensive stop seemed to turn into an immediate attack, and AIK struggled to match the pace. The hosts also shared the ball well in the half court, creating open shots for guards and wings alike.

Tactical story

Uppsala’s full-court pressure disrupted AIK’s rhythm and forced the visitors into hurried decisions. The hosts rotated well behind the pressure, preventing easy baskets even when AIK broke the first line of defense. On the boards, Uppsala’s frontcourt limited second chances and allowed the guards to push the ball quickly.

AIK’s best spells came when it slowed the game and attacked inside, but those possessions were too infrequent. Uppsala’s defensive discipline and depth wore the visitors down, particularly in the second half.

Standout performers

Elin Andersson led Uppsala with 21 points, consistently finding space in transition and in the half court. Sara Lindqvist added 17 points and five assists, while Maja Ekström contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds. AIK’s Emma Berg finished with 15 points, but she received limited support as Uppsala’s defense tightened.

What the result means

The win gives Uppsala Basket Women a strong home result and valuable momentum in the Svenska Basketligan Dam. A 30-point margin can boost confidence across the rotation, especially with the bench contributing meaningful minutes. For AIK Basket Women, the focus will be on handling pressure and improving half-court execution. The final score of 89-59 underlined Uppsala’s control from start to finish.
