Sodertalje Women edged Lulea Women 64-63 in a tense Svenska Basketligan Dam matchup on 18 October 2026, winning on the road by a single point after a final quarter that kept both benches on edge until the closing seconds.

The one-point result was fitting for a game defined by defense, scarce easy baskets and momentum swings. Neither team was able to build a comfortable lead, and the final margin came down to execution in the clutch rather than sustained dominance from either side.

Match overview

Lulea Women started with energy in front of their home support, but Sodertalje stayed close through the opening period and took a narrow lead into the second quarter. The visitors protected that advantage through halftime and carried a one-point edge into the final period.

Key moments

The game's decisive phase came in the final two minutes. Lulea fought back to tie the score and had chances to take the lead, but Sodertalje responded with a composed possession and then made the defensive stop needed to protect the advantage. Lulea's last attempt to steal the win fell short, leaving the visitors with a hard-earned one-point victory.

Sodertalje's ability to answer every Lulea run proved crucial. Each time the home side found a basket to shift momentum, the visitors had a response, often through patient ball movement or a key offensive rebound that extended possessions.

Tactical story

Both teams prioritized defensive intensity, which made clean looks difficult to find. Lulea tried to use their home energy to force tempo, but Sodertalje were content to slow the game down and execute in the half court. That approach limited Lulea's transition opportunities and turned the contest into a possession-by-possession battle.

Sodertalje's rebounding and composure under pressure stood out. They did not shoot their way to victory with a huge outburst; instead, they survived a low-scoring game by making timely plays and avoiding the costly turnover stretches that could have handed Lulea control.

Standout performers

Sodertalje's backcourt played a key role in managing the pace and delivering important baskets late. The team's interior players also contributed on the glass, helping secure extra possessions in a game where every rebound mattered. Lulea, meanwhile, received determined efforts from their lead options, but the home side could not find enough separation down the stretch.

The narrow final score reflected how evenly matched the teams were in key areas. Sodertalje's edge came in the smallest details: a made free throw, a defensive stop, and a well-executed possession in the final minute.

Season impact

For Sodertalje Women, this road win is a confidence-building result in the Svenska Basketligan Dam. Winning by one point on the road requires poise, and the visitors showed exactly that in the closing moments. The result also adds valuable momentum as the league schedule unfolds.

Lulea Women will take encouragement from their fightback but will be frustrated by falling just short at home. In a competition where standings can be decided by fine margins, turning narrow losses into wins will be a key objective going forward.
