Ponfelada delivered a dominant 83-60 home victory over CB Getafe in Spain’s Segunda FEB on October 18, 2026, controlling the game from start to finish. A strong first quarter set the tone, and Ponfelada’s defensive intensity never allowed Getafe to find a foothold in the contest.

Match overview

Ponfelada came out firing, moving the ball crisply and knocking down open shots. They built a 24-14 lead after the first quarter, with their defense forcing Getafe into several contested attempts. The second quarter was more balanced, but Ponfelada still managed to extend their advantage to 43-30 by halftime.

The third quarter was where the game truly broke open. Ponfelada opened with a 12-2 run, pushing the lead beyond 20 points. Getafe tried to respond with a zone defense, but Ponfelada’s shooters found gaps and their big men controlled the offensive glass. By the end of the third, the hosts led 64-45.

How the game turned

The decisive stretch came in the opening minutes of the third quarter. Ponfelada’s defense forced three consecutive turnovers, leading to easy transition baskets. When Getafe finally broke the press, they missed contested shots and struggled to secure offensive rebounds. The hosts’ run effectively put the game out of reach.

In the fourth quarter, Ponfelada maintained their focus despite the comfortable lead. Their bench players contributed valuable minutes, and the team continued to execute on both ends. Getafe never managed to cut the deficit below 18 points in the final period.

Tactical story

Ponfelada’s defensive performance was the standout feature of the game. They rotated well, communicated effectively, and limited Getafe’s clean looks from the perimeter. The visitors were held to just 60 points, a reflection of Ponfelada’s discipline and intensity.

On offense, Ponfelada attacked with purpose. They pushed the ball in transition when opportunities arose and executed their half-court sets with patience. Their three-point shooting stretched Getafe’s defense, opening driving lanes and creating second-chance opportunities through offensive rebounds.

Standout performers

Ponfelada’s backcourt controlled the tempo and distributed the ball effectively. Their leading scorer was efficient from the field, while the frontcourt dominated the glass and protected the rim. The bench also made a significant impact, maintaining the defensive intensity and contributing timely baskets.

For CB Getafe, the game was a difficult one. Their guards struggled against Ponfelada’s pressure, and their interior players were outmuscled on the boards. There were brief flashes of good ball movement, but Getafe could not sustain any momentum against a relentless home defense.

What it means

The win is a significant one for Ponfelada in the Segunda FEB standings, boosting their point differential and reinforcing their home-court advantage. It was a complete team performance that showcased their defensive potential and offensive balance.

CB Getafe will need to regroup quickly. The loss exposed issues with ball security and perimeter shooting, and they will need to find solutions before their next game. Despite the scoreline, there are lessons to take from the way they competed in the second quarter, but the overall performance fell short of the required standard.

Final score: Ponfelada 83, CB Getafe 60.
