The visitors closed the game with a composed final run, turning a narrow deficit into a five-point win and handing Logrono a frustrating home defeat.

Match Overview

Basket Cartagena started brightly and led 22-18 after the first quarter, using quick ball movement and accurate outside shooting. Logrono responded in the second period, tightening their defense and attacking the rim to win the quarter 20-16. That made it 38-38 at halftime, setting up a tense second half.

• First quarter: Basket Cartagena 22-18
• Second quarter: Logrono 20-16
• Halftime: 38-38
• Third quarter: Basket Cartagena 21-15
• Fourth quarter: Logrono 19-18

Logrono fought back in the fourth, using their home crowd to fuel a rally, but Cartagena had the answers down the stretch. The final quarter was nearly even on the scoreboard, but the visitors made the bigger plays in the closing minutes.

Key Moments

Logrono opened the fourth quarter with a 7-2 run to cut the lead to 61-60, and the game became a possession-by-possession battle. With just over four minutes remaining, Logrono briefly took a one-point lead after a corner three. Basket Cartagena responded with a patient offensive set that ended in an open layup, then forced a turnover on the other end.

The decisive sequence came in the final two minutes. Tied at 70-70, Cartagena hit a step-back three-pointer to go ahead 73-70. After a Logrono free throw cut it to two, Cartagena answered with a mid-range jumper and then sealed the game with two free throws. Logrono had one last attempt to tie, but the shot was off the mark, and Cartagena celebrated a hard-earned road win.

Standout Performers

• Pablo Martinez (Basket Cartagena): 21 points, 5 assists
• Sergio Ruiz (Basket Cartagena): 17 points, 8 rebounds
• Javier Lopez (Basket Cartagena): 14 points, 4 three-pointers
• Alvaro Garcia (Logrono): 19 points, 6 rebounds
• Diego Fernandez (Logrono): 16 points, 4 assists

Martinez controlled the game for Cartagena, scoring from all three levels and making smart decisions in pick-and-roll situations. Ruiz was a force on the boards, while Lopez’s outside shooting stretched Logrono’s defense and opened driving lanes for his teammates. The trio combined for 52 of Cartagena’s 77 points.

Logrono got strong performances from Garcia and Fernandez, but they lacked the same balance in the final minutes. Garcia attacked the basket well and Fernandez kept the offense organized, yet Logrono’s supporting cast struggled to convert open looks when Cartagena’s defense tightened.

Tactical Story

Basket Cartagena won this game with defense and three-point shooting. They mixed man-to-man and zone looks, slowing Logrono’s half-court offense and forcing contested jumpers. On offense, Cartagena spaced the floor well, moved the ball side to side, and punished Logrono whenever help defense arrived too early.

Logrono’s best moments came when they played through the post and attacked the offensive glass. However, they settled for too many outside shots in the fourth quarter and finished with several costly turnovers. In a game decided by five points, those extra possessions made the difference.

Season Impact

This 77-72 road win is a significant result for Basket Cartagena in the Spain Segunda FEB standings. Winning away from home against a competitive Logrono side strengthens their early-season resume and gives them momentum for the fixtures ahead.

Logrono will be disappointed to let a close game slip away on their home floor. They showed enough fight to compete, but they will need to improve their late-game execution and rebounding if they want to climb the table. For Basket Cartagena, the challenge now is consistency: if they can replicate this defensive effort, they will be a tough opponent all season.
