Iraurgi SB claimed an 85-80 home win over CE Bisbal Basquet in Spain’s Segunda FEB, surviving a close contest that remained undecided until the final minutes. The final score rewarded Iraurgi’s composure and its ability to make key plays on both ends down the stretch.

Match overview

The teams traded leads throughout the first half, with Iraurgi using interior scoring and Bisbal responding from the perimeter. Iraurgi held a narrow advantage for much of the game, but CE Bisbal Basquet stayed within reach by attacking the basket and forcing extra possessions. Neither side could build a double-digit cushion, setting up a tense fourth quarter.

Turning point

The decisive stretch came in the final period when Iraurgi produced a 9-2 run to move ahead for good. The run began with a defensive stop and an offensive rebound, which led to a second-chance basket. Iraurgi then added a transition score and a pair of free throws, forcing Bisbal to call timeout. Although the visitors trimmed the deficit late, Iraurgi answered with steady execution and protected the ball in the closing seconds.

Tactical story

Iraurgi’s game plan centered on paint touches and offensive rebounding. The hosts attacked the basket, drew fouls, and created open looks for shooters when Bisbal collapsed defensively. Defensively, Iraurgi limited Bisbal’s clean three-point attempts in the fourth quarter and forced the visitors into contested mid-range shots. Bisbal’s ball movement was effective for long stretches, but Iraurgi’s late adjustments made the difference.

Standout performers

Iraurgi’s interior players controlled the boards and provided efficient scoring around the rim. The guards managed the tempo well, especially in the final five minutes, and made crucial free throws under pressure. CE Bisbal Basquet received strong contributions from its perimeter players, but the visitors lacked the final scoring punch needed to complete the comeback.

What it means

The win gives Iraurgi SB an important home result in the Segunda FEB and reinforces the value of its defensive rebounding. CE Bisbal Basquet will take positives from a competitive road performance but must improve its late-game execution. For Iraurgi, the challenge is to build on this result and maintain the same intensity in the next round.
