How the game unfolded

The first quarter was a statement from Valladolid. They attacked the rim early, kicked out to open shooters and forced Badajoz into hurried possessions. A 28-12 advantage quickly became 53-27 by halftime as the hosts continued to dominate the defensive glass and run in transition. Badajoz’s offense never found a consistent rhythm against Valladolid’s switching defense.

The third quarter brought more of the same. Valladolid outscored Badajoz 27-16, pushing the lead past 30 points and allowing their bench to see extended minutes. The final period was played at a similar tempo, with Valladolid maintaining their defensive intensity and Badajoz unable to reduce the deficit. The 47-point margin accurately reflected the gap in execution and depth.

Tactical story

Valladolid’s offense was built on quick ball movement and relentless pace. They pushed after every made basket, attacked mismatches in transition and generated open corner threes through drive-and-kick sequences. Their bench players maintained the same tempo, which prevented Badajoz from mounting any comeback.

Defensively, Valladolid disrupted Badajoz’s half-court sets with ball pressure and active hands. Badajoz struggled to enter their offense cleanly, often settling for contested shots late in the clock. Valladolid’s rebounding dominance also limited second-chance points and allowed them to control the game’s rhythm from start to finish.

Standout performers

Valladolid forward Sergio Marcos led the scoring with 22 points, while guard Ivan del Rio orchestrated the offense with 14 assists and 10 points. Center Hugo Prieto added 18 points and 11 rebounds, and reserve guard Pablo Nieto contributed 15 points off the bench. Badajoz Academy were led by Adrian Pardo’s 14 points, but the visitors had few answers on either end.

Season impact

The blowout win gives Grupo Capitol Valladolid a significant confidence boost and reinforces their offensive potential in the Segunda FEB. For Badajoz Academy, the defeat is a learning experience against a deeper, more experienced opponent. Valladolid will look to maintain their momentum, while Badajoz must regroup defensively before their next fixture.
