Key Moments

Melilla’s strongest spell came after halftime. Leading by just two points at the break, the visitors tightened their defense, pushed the ball in transition, and converted several important outside shots to stretch the advantage. By the end of the third quarter, Melilla had moved ahead 75-68 and looked to have taken firm control of the game.

CD Leonesa Basket refused to fade away. The home side increased its defensive pressure in the fourth quarter, forced Melilla into contested possessions, and cut into the deficit with timely scoring in the paint and from the free-throw line. The game remained alive until the closing moments, but Melilla kept their composure and made enough late baskets to protect the win.

Tactical Story

Melilla Baloncesto’s victory was built on balanced scoring and better shot selection in crucial moments. The visitors moved the ball well against Leonesa’s half-court defense and found open shooters when the home side collapsed inside. Their third-quarter run changed the momentum of the game and gave them enough cushion to withstand Leonesa’s late surge.

CD Leonesa Basket were competitive throughout and did much of their best work around the basket. The home side scored 92 points and remained within striking distance for most of the night, but they were unable to string together enough defensive stops during Melilla’s decisive third-quarter stretch. Leonesa’s fourth-quarter fightback made the finish dramatic, yet Melilla’s execution in the final minutes proved decisive.

Standout Performers

Melilla’s backcourt played a key role in controlling the tempo, while their frontcourt contributed important points in the paint and on the offensive glass. The visitors did not rely on a single scorer to carry the load; instead, they received contributions from multiple rotation players, which made them difficult to defend over four quarters.

For CD Leonesa Basket, the effort was there until the final buzzer. The home side’s scoring balance kept them in the game, and their late rally gave the home crowd hope of a comeback. In the end, however, Melilla’s poise at the free-throw line and their ability to answer Leonesa’s runs proved to be the difference in a tightly contested Segunda FEB fixture.

Season Impact and What’s Next

The win is a confidence boost for Melilla Baloncesto as they continue their Segunda FEB campaign. A four-point road victory against a determined Leonesa side is the kind of result that can help build momentum in a competitive league where away wins are often hard to come by. For CD Leonesa Basket, the loss is a missed opportunity at home, but the performance showed plenty of fight and scoring ability.

The latest head-to-head meeting finished 96-92 in Melilla’s favor, and both teams will now turn their attention to the next round of fixtures. Leonesa will look to tighten their late-game defense and return to winning ways, while Melilla will aim to carry the composure shown in this road win into their upcoming games. In a league where standings can shift quickly, this result could prove valuable as the season develops.
