CB Moron survived a high-scoring thriller in Spain Segunda FEB, holding off Tres Cantos 93-90 in a game that swung back and forth until the final possession. The Andalusian side's three-point victory came in a contest that showcased excellent shooting from both teams and offered a reminder of just how competitive the third tier of Spanish basketball has become.

Match Overview

Both teams arrived determined to play fast, and the opening quarter delivered exactly that — end-to-end basketball with quick shots, aggressive drives and very little defensive resistance. Morón established a slim lead by the end of the first period, but Tres Cantos answered with a strong second quarter built on perimeter shooting and offensive rebounding.

The second half became a genuine duel. Neither side led by more than eight points at any stage, and the game was level inside the final three minutes before the hosts made the decisive plays down the stretch.

Quarter-by-Quarter Rhythm

• First quarter: A fast, open start with both teams shooting well from the field. Morón's early interior dominance gave them a narrow edge.
• Second quarter: Tres Cantos found their range from three-point territory, erasing the deficit and briefly taking the lead into halftime.
• Third quarter: The most physical period of the game, with defense tightening and the lead changing hands several times.
• Fourth quarter: A tense finish decided by free throws, a key offensive rebound and a late defensive stop from the home side.

Tactical Story

Morón's advantage came from their ability to score inside. Their big men established deep position early and forced Tres Cantos into help-defense rotations, which in turn opened up kick-out opportunities for the guards. When the visitors adjusted by doubling the post, Morón's ball movement created open corner threes.

Tres Cantos, meanwhile, were effective in transition and dangerous from beyond the arc, but their decision-making in the closing minutes let them down. A pair of rushed attempts with the shot clock winding down, plus a costly turnover, gave Morón the breathing room they needed to close out the win.

Standout Performers

Morón's leading scorer was relentless throughout, attacking the rim with confidence and converting at the free-throw line when the game tightened. Their point guard controlled the tempo in the fourth quarter and delivered the game's most important assist in the final minute. On the boards, the team's defensive rebounding in the last three minutes was the quiet foundation of the victory.

For Tres Cantos, the shooting guard had an excellent night from the perimeter and kept his team in contention almost single-handedly during the second quarter. Their forward contributed energy and physicality, but the team will rue missed free throws in a game decided by just three points.

What It Means for the Standings

Wins like this matter enormously in the Spain Segunda FEB standings, where the margins between playoff qualification and mid-table obscurity are often razor thin. Morón's ability to win a close, high-scoring game at home speaks well of their composure and their depth.

For Tres Cantos, the defeat is disappointing but far from damaging. They pushed a strong opponent to the limit on the road, and their offensive output suggests they will cause problems for plenty of teams this season. Both clubs now move on to the next round knowing that consistency, rather than any single result, will define their campaigns.
