CB Benicarlo secured a hard-fought 65-57 home victory over Molina Basket in Spain’s Segunda FEB, winning a game that was defined by defense, discipline, and timely shot-making. The final score reflected a tense, low-scoring contest in which every possession carried extra weight.

Match overview

Both teams opened with a cautious approach, with neither side allowing easy looks in the half-court. Benicarlo led 32-27 at halftime after a patient first half in which defense outweighed offense. Molina Basket stayed close by attacking the offensive glass and drawing fouls, but the visitors struggled to string together consecutive scoring possessions against Benicarlo’s compact defense.

Key stretch

The game turned in the third quarter when Benicarlo produced a 10-0 run that stretched its lead into double digits. The surge was built on stops rather than spectacular offense: Benicarlo forced turnovers, contested shots at the rim, and converted second-chance points at the other end. Molina Basket responded with a late push in the fourth quarter, but Benicarlo’s composure from the free-throw line and its ability to slow the tempo protected the win.

Defensive identity

Benicarlo’s defensive identity was clear throughout. The hosts protected the paint, rotated well on the perimeter, and made Molina work deep into the shot clock. On offense, Benicarlo did not force the issue; it moved the ball, attacked mismatches, and took advantage of Molina’s help rotations. The result was a controlled performance that suited the hosts’ game plan perfectly.

Standout performers

Benicarlo’s frontcourt controlled the rebounding battle and provided a steady inside presence, while the guards managed the game with maturity in the closing minutes. The bench also contributed important defensive minutes, helping maintain intensity when the starters rested. Molina Basket’s best moments came from its perimeter pressure and offensive rebounding, but the visitors lacked the shooting efficiency needed to complete the comeback.

What it means

The win gives CB Benicarlo a valuable result in the Segunda FEB standings and reinforces the team’s ability to win games in the 60s. Molina Basket will take encouragement from its defensive effort but will need more scoring balance in upcoming fixtures. For Benicarlo, the challenge now is to carry the same defensive focus on the road.
