Caceres opened its Spain Segunda FEB campaign with an 84-79 home victory over Grupo Capitol Valladolid on October 25, 2026, surviving a tense closing stretch to secure a five-point win. The hosts combined a balanced scoring effort with timely stops in the final minutes, denying Valladolid a road comeback and giving their early-season resume a valuable boost.

Match Overview

The contest followed the pattern of a classic Segunda FEB battle: neither side allowed the other to pull away for long, and the game remained within two possessions for much of the second half. Caceres led by a narrow margin at the break, but Valladolid kept answering with timely outside shooting and second-chance points. The difference came late, when Caceres tightened its half-court defense and forced Valladolid into contested looks.

The final scoreline of 84-79 reflects how little separated the teams over 40 minutes. Caceres did just enough at the free-throw line and on the defensive glass to protect the lead, while Valladolid left with a competitive road performance but no reward in the standings.

Key Moments

• Caceres built an early cushion with a quick transition burst, forcing Valladolid to call an early timeout.
• Valladolid responded before halftime, cutting the deficit with back-to-back three-pointers and keeping the home crowd quiet.
• The decisive run came in the fourth quarter, when Caceres strung together stops and converted at the other end to push the margin back to two possessions.
• In the final minute, Caceres sealed the win with free throws and a defensive rebound, denying Valladolid a final chance to tie.

Tactical Story

Caceres won this game with control rather than fireworks. The hosts moved the ball well against Valladolid’s switching defense, repeatedly finding the open man on the weak side. Defensively, Caceres prioritized protecting the paint and forced Valladolid into outside shots. That strategy paid off in the closing minutes, when Valladolid’s looks became tougher and the home side cleaned up the glass.

Valladolid’s guard play kept the visitors in it, and their ability to score in transition made the game uncomfortable for Caceres. But the visitors could not sustain that rhythm late, and Caceres’ composure from the charity stripe proved decisive.

Standout Performers

Caceres’ backcourt set the tone with steady decision-making and timely shot-making, while the frontcourt delivered important offensive rebounds and defensive stops. Valladolid’s best moments came from its perimeter shooting and aggressive drives, but the visitors lacked the final scoring punch in the last two minutes.

What It Means

The win gives Caceres an early edge in the Segunda FEB table and reinforces the value of home court in a league where margins are often thin. For Grupo Capitol Valladolid, the 84-79 loss is a frustrating but encouraging road display: competitive enough to suggest better results are coming, but not enough to leave with points.
