Final-quarter drama

Gran Canaria’s late surge was built on defensive stops and patient offense. The visitors slowed the tempo, worked the ball inside and drew fouls to reach the bonus. Their free-throw shooting in the final two minutes proved crucial, while Vinas was left chasing the game after a couple of empty possessions. The home side’s last chance came from beyond the arc, but the shot rimmed out and Gran Canaria celebrated a valuable road victory.

Tactical story

CD Vinas Logrono Women’s three-point shooting kept them in front for long stretches, but Gran Canaria’s rebounding and interior defense improved as the game wore on. The visitors were able to limit second-chance points in the fourth quarter and forced Vinas into contested jumpers. Offensively, Gran Canaria’s balanced scoring made it difficult for the home defense to focus on one option.

Vinas will look back at a few missed opportunities in transition and some untimely turnovers. Still, the home side showed enough offensive quality to suggest it will be competitive in the LF Challenge Women standings.

Season impact

The 72-70 win is a significant confidence boost for Gran Canaria Women, especially on the road against a direct league rival. For CD Vinas Logrono Women, the narrow loss is painful but not damaging in the long term if the team maintains its level of play. In a competition where away wins are precious, Gran Canaria’s late execution stands out as the story of the night.
