Tactical story

Sevilla’s half-court defense was the foundation of the win. The hosts contested shots, rotated well on help defense and limited Melilla’s second-chance opportunities. On offense, Sevilla shared the ball effectively and attacked the basket with purpose, drawing fouls and creating open corner threes. The bench also contributed important minutes, maintaining the defensive standard when the starters rested.

Melilla La Salle Women had spells of good play, particularly when their post players established position inside, but the team could not string together enough stops to threaten the lead. The visitors’ outside shooting was inconsistent, and Sevilla’s control of the defensive glass prevented repeated comeback attempts.

Standout performers

Baloncesto Sevilla’s balanced scoring made the team difficult to defend. The backcourt controlled the tempo, the wings ran the floor and the interior players finished efficiently around the rim. Defensively, Sevilla’s communication and rotations were excellent, forcing Melilla into difficult shots throughout the second half.

For Melilla La Salle Women, the effort remained strong until the final whistle, but the team will need more consistent perimeter shooting and better ball security in upcoming games. The 53-point output was below the standard the visitors have shown at times this season.

Season impact

The 73-53 result gives Baloncesto Sevilla Women a valuable home win and a healthy points differential in the LF Challenge Women table. It also reinforces the team’s defensive identity as it looks to climb the standings. Melilla La Salle Women will regroup and focus on execution at both ends before the next round.
