Podcetrtek produced a statement road performance in the Slovenia Basketball Cup, beating Jance 101-94 in a high-scoring, fast-paced tie that was decided in the final minutes. The visitors reached triple digits on the scoreboard, surviving a spirited Jance comeback bid to advance with a seven-point win.

Jance 94, Podcetrtek 101 — Match Overview

This was never going to be a defensive struggle. Both teams came out shooting with confidence, and the first half turned into a genuine shootout, with the lead changing hands repeatedly. Jance fed off their home crowd, attacking the rim aggressively and drawing fouls, while Podcetrtek answered with efficient three-point shooting and sharp ball movement that repeatedly found the open man on the weak side.

The difference came in the third quarter. Podcetrtek came out of the halftime break with a much more disciplined defensive approach, closing out harder on shooters and forcing Jance into contested, mid-range attempts. That stretch turned a tight game into a working margin, and although Jance rallied late, the visitors had enough poise from the free-throw line to hold on.

Key Moments

• First quarter: A blistering shooting start from both sides, with the teams combining for a heavy scoring load and neither able to build a cushion.
• Early third quarter: Podcetrtek's decisive run, built on stops and transition baskets, that pushed the lead into double figures.
• Late Jance surge: A barrage of three-pointers cut the deficit back to a single possession and brought the home crowd to its feet.
• Closing minute: Podcetrtek converted key free throws and grabbed a critical offensive rebound to end any hope of a Jance comeback.

Tactical Story

Podcetrtek played with clear intent: push the pace, share the ball and take the first good look available. That approach suited a cup tie where rhythm matters more than structure, and it allowed them to reach 101 points without ever relying on one dominant scorer. Their spacing stretched Jance's defence horizontally, creating driving lanes that led to either layups or kick-out threes.

Jance, meanwhile, were at their best when they attacked the paint. Their guards got to the rim consistently in the first half and drew enough contact to live at the free-throw line. The problem was the other end: defensive rotations were a step slow, and Podcetrtek punished every late closeout. In a game decided by seven points, those extra open looks made all the difference.

Standout Performers

• Podcetrtek perimeter: Combined for the bulk of the team's three-point production and controlled the tempo in the fourth quarter.
• Podcetrtek interior: Provided efficient finishing and a decisive presence on the offensive glass in the closing minutes.
• Jance guards: Drove the offence all night, keeping the home side within reach with aggressive penetration and shot-making.
• Jance bench: Delivered a scoring spark during the late rally that nearly flipped the result.

What It Means

The win keeps Podcetrtek alive in the Slovenia Basketball Cup and underlines their credentials as a team capable of scoring with anyone in a one-off format. Passing the 100-point mark on the road in a knockout tie is a clear signal of offensive health, and it gives the squad real belief heading into the next round.

For Jance, the exit will sting. Scoring 94 points at home and still losing is the kind of result that lingers, and it will send them back to league duties with a clear area to fix: defensive consistency and closeout discipline. Cup basketball rewards the team that defends for the full forty minutes — and on this night, that was the visitors.
