San Jorge Baloncesto edged Fortitudo Agrigento 78-76 in a closely fought Serie B Basket game on 18 October 2026. The contest was tied entering the final quarter, and San Jorge made just enough plays down the stretch to hold on at home.

Neither team led by more than a handful of points for most of the night. Fortitudo Agrigento's perimeter shooting kept them in touch, while San Jorge's half-court defense and rebounding gave them a slight edge in the decisive moments.

Quarter-by-quarter scoring

• First quarter: San Jorge Baloncesto 19-20 Fortitudo Agrigento
• Second quarter: San Jorge Baloncesto 21-17 Fortitudo Agrigento
• Halftime: San Jorge Baloncesto 40-37 Fortitudo Agrigento

How the game turned

Fortitudo started brightly and led 20-19 after the first quarter, but San Jorge responded with a stronger second period to take a 40-37 lead into halftime. The third quarter was a back-and-forth battle, with Fortitudo clawing their way back to level the score at 58-58 heading into the final ten minutes.

In the fourth, San Jorge found a little more separation late. A 6-0 run turned a tied game into a 76-70 lead, and although Fortitudo cut the deficit with timely baskets, San Jorge's free-throw shooting in the final seconds proved enough. Fortitudo had one last possession to tie or win, but the shot did not fall.

Tactical story

San Jorge's defense was key. They limited Fortitudo's clean looks from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter and forced them into contested mid-range attempts. On the glass, San Jorge were slightly more physical, and their ability to secure defensive rebounds prevented Fortitudo from getting second-chance points.

Fortitudo's guards kept the offense moving and found success when they attacked the paint early. However, they struggled to contain San Jorge's dribble penetration in the closing minutes, which led to fouls and easy points at the line.

What the result means

This is an important two-point win for San Jorge Baloncesto in the Serie B Basket standings and a good example of their composure in tight games. Fortitudo Agrigento will be disappointed to leave empty-handed, but their performance showed they can compete in low-margin contests. The head-to-head result could prove valuable for San Jorge later in the season.
