San Giobbe Chiusi produced one of their most complete performances of the season, dismantling Basketball Club Lucca 92-76 in a Tuscan derby played on October 12, 2026. The hosts controlled the game from the opening minutes, led by double digits for the entire second half, and never allowed their regional rivals to build any sustained momentum.

Match Overview

Serie B Basket derbies carry extra weight, and this one was no exception. Chiusi came out with clear intent, moving the ball quickly and punishing Lucca's defensive rotations with accurate outside shooting. By the end of the first quarter the tone was set; by halftime the gap had grown to double figures, and the second half became a matter of professional management rather than survival.

The 16-point margin reflects a game in which Chiusi were sharper in every phase: shooting, rebounding, transition defence and bench production. Lucca competed hard but were chasing the game from the midway point of the first period.

Key Moments

The decisive run came late in the second quarter. With Chiusi leading by seven, a sequence of three consecutive defensive stops turned into eight unanswered points in under ninety seconds, pushing the advantage to 15 and forcing Lucca into a timeout. The visitors never recovered the deficit to single digits.

Lucca's best spell came at the start of the third quarter, when a quick 7-2 burst briefly hinted at a comeback. Chiusi's response was immediate and emphatic: a three-pointer from the wing, a steal-and-score in transition, and a strong finish inside restored full control. From that point the hosts managed the clock, rotated their bench, and closed out the win comfortably.

Tactical Story

Chiusi's success started on the defensive end. They contested Lucca's perimeter looks aggressively, closed out hard on shooters, and forced their opponents into late-clock situations. That pressure produced turnovers and long rebounds, which in turn fuelled the fast-break attack that generated so many easy points.

Offensively, the hosts shared the ball exceptionally well, generating open shots through patient ball movement rather than isolation play. Their interior passing and offensive rebounding created second-chance opportunities that Lucca simply could not match. When the visitors did get stops, they were often one-and-done at the other end, unable to convert at a rate that would have kept the game competitive.

Standout Players

• Chiusi's perimeter corps: Combined for the majority of the team's three-point output, punishing every defensive rotation.
• Chiusi's frontcourt: Controlled the boards at both ends and finished efficiently around the rim.
• Chiusi's bench: Extended the lead rather than surrendering it, a hallmark of a deep, well-coached rotation.
• Lucca's leading scorer: Battled throughout and kept the visitors within reach during the third quarter.
• Lucca's guards: Showed flashes of quality in transition but were consistently disrupted by Chiusi's half-court pressure.

Standings and Season Impact

Wins like this matter in the Serie B Basket standings, where points differential and home form frequently decide playoff seeding. Chiusi's ability to beat a regional rival by 16 points at home reinforces their credentials as a team capable of competing at the top end of the division and pushing for promotion into Serie A2.

For Basketball Club Lucca, the defeat is a reminder of the work required on the road in a league where away games are relentlessly difficult. Their response over the coming fixtures will say much about whether they can stay in the promotion conversation or settle into mid-table.
