Reggio Calabria 68–73 Agribertocchi Orzinuovi: Visitors Grind Out Road Win in Serie B Basket

Agribertocchi Orzinuovi claimed a hard-fought 73–68 victory over Reggio Calabria in Serie B Basket, producing a disciplined second half to overturn a narrow half-time deficit. In a game defined by defensive intensity and low shooting percentages, Orzinuovi's patience in the fourth quarter proved decisive.

The result is a meaningful one in a competitive Italian third tier where road wins are hard-earned and often separate the promotion contenders from the pack.

Match Overview

• Competition: Serie B Basket
• Match: Reggio Calabria vs Agribertocchi Orzinuovi
• Final score: 68–73
• Quarter splits: 18–16, 14–20, 19–17, 17–20

Reggio Calabria edged a tight opening quarter 18–16, leaning on a vocal home crowd and an aggressive defensive approach. Orzinuovi responded in the second period, outscoring the hosts 20–14 to take a four-point lead into the locker room.

Key Moments

The third quarter was a slugfest. Reggio Calabria tightened up defensively and won the period 19–17, cutting the deficit to two points and setting up a tense finish. The hosts had momentum, the crowd behind them, and a clear route back into the game.

But Orzinuovi's fourth quarter was the difference. The visitors executed their half-court offence with patience, worked the ball inside-out, and knocked down the free throws that mattered in the closing minutes. Reggio Calabria, forced into contested shots as the clock wound down, could not find the run needed to retake the lead.

Standout Performances

Orzinuovi's perimeter defence was outstanding over the final ten minutes. Their guards contested shots without fouling and controlled the tempo when the game threatened to speed up. On the offensive end, their ability to generate a basket whenever Reggio Calabria pulled within one possession was the defining trait of the win.

Reggio Calabria will look back at the second quarter with frustration. A 20–14 loss in that period created the margin that ultimately decided the game, and their shooting from beyond the arc fell short of the standard they have set at home this season.

Season Context

Serie B Basket is a league where every game carries weight, with promotion ambitions and relegation concerns often decided by fine margins. A road win of this nature is exactly the sort of result that can shape a season, giving Orzinuovi belief that they can win ugly when the shots are not falling.

For Reggio Calabria, the loss is a reminder that defensive solidity alone is not always enough. Turning strong home performances into wins requires efficient shot selection and better execution in the closing five minutes.

What's Next

Both teams now turn to their next Serie B Basket assignments. Orzinuovi will look to build on a road victory they will consider one of their more satisfying of the campaign, while Reggio Calabria will target a response — and a return to the scoring rhythm that has served them well on their own floor.
