Cestistica San Severo secured an 85-79 road win over Ravenna in Serie B Basket on October 19, 2026, using a late 8-0 run to break open a game that had been tight for nearly 36 minutes. San Severo’s backcourt controlled the pace, and the visitors made the bigger plays in the fourth quarter to leave with a valuable result in the early Serie B Basket standings.

A back-and-forth contest

Ravenna opened with energy from the home crowd and attacked the interior early, but San Severo answered with quick ball movement and transition baskets. The first quarter ended 22-20 in favor of the visitors, and the lead changed hands several times before halftime. San Severo took a 40-39 advantage into the locker room after a late free throw, setting up a competitive second half.

• First quarter: Ravenna 20-22 Cestistica San Severo
• Second quarter: Ravenna 19-18 Cestistica San Severo
• Third quarter: Ravenna 21-23 Cestistica San Severo
• Fourth quarter: Ravenna 19-22 Cestistica San Severo

Key moments

With just over four minutes remaining, Ravenna tied the game at 72-72 on a strong drive from Simone Gori. San Severo responded immediately. Davide Russo hit a pull-up jumper, Marco Esposito converted an and-one in the paint, and a steal led to a fast-break layup that capped an 8-0 run. Ravenna never recovered, and San Severo knocked down its free throws in the closing seconds to protect the six-point margin.

Tactical story

San Severo’s transition game was the difference. The visitors forced 16 Ravenna turnovers and turned those mistakes into 18 fast-break points, compared with just eight for the hosts. Ravenna won the rebounding battle and scored well inside, but its half-court offense stalled late when San Severo switched more aggressively on screens. San Severo also shot a better percentage from the free-throw line, a critical detail in a game decided by a single run.

Standout performers

Davide Russo paced San Severo with 24 points and six assists, repeatedly breaking Ravenna’s defense off the dribble. Marco Esposito added 18 points and nine rebounds, providing a strong inside-outside presence. Ravenna was led by Simone Gori’s 20 points and seven rebounds, while Luca Mancini contributed 15 points. Despite the loss, Ravenna’s interior scoring kept the game close until the final minutes.

What the result means

The road win is a statement for Cestistica San Severo, who showed poise in a hostile environment and execution in crunch time. For Ravenna, the result is a lesson in late-game care: the hosts matched San Severo for long stretches but could not contain the decisive run. In the Serie B Basket table, this is the kind of away victory that can build momentum early in the season.
