Reggio Calabria edged Paffoni Fulgor Omegna 72-68 in Serie B Basket on 25 October 2026, winning a tightly contested road game with better execution in the final two minutes. The final score was close throughout, but Reggio Calabria’s calmness in the clutch proved decisive in a matchup that felt like a playoff preview.

Match overview

Omegna started brightly in front of their home crowd, using early energy to build a narrow first-quarter lead. Reggio Calabria responded with a more controlled second period, tightening their defense and forcing Omegna into difficult shots. From there, the game settled into a possession-by-possession battle, with neither side able to pull away.

• Quarter scores: Omegna 18-16, 15-19, 17-20, 18-17
• Final score: Paffoni Fulgor Omegna 68, Reggio Calabria 72
• Decisive phase: Reggio Calabria’s late defensive stops and composed free-throw shooting

The halftime deficit was small, but it forced Omegna to chase the game for long stretches. They stayed within reach thanks to timely three-point shooting and offensive rebounds, but Reggio Calabria always seemed to have an answer when the pressure mounted.

Key moments

The fourth quarter was a tense, low-scoring affair in which every possession mattered. Omegna tied the game with a quick burst midway through the period, but Reggio Calabria responded with a crucial basket in the paint and a defensive stop on the next possession. A pair of free throws in the final seconds sealed the result and denied Omegna a final chance to level the score.

Rebounding and turnovers were central to the outcome. Reggio Calabria took care of the ball better in the closing minutes, while Omegna were hurt by a few rushed possessions when they needed patience. In a game decided by four points, those small margins were always going to be the difference.

Tactical story

Both teams prioritized defense, which made for a gritty, physical contest. Omegna tried to establish their inside game early, but Reggio Calabria’s help defense was active and forced them into contested finishes. On offense, Reggio Calabria used ball movement to create open looks and attacked the basket when Omegna overcommitted on the perimeter.

The game was decided in the half-court. Reggio Calabria’s ability to generate a good shot late in the clock was a key advantage, while Omegna occasionally settled for early three-point attempts that did not fall. The visitors also managed the tempo well, slowing the game down when they held a narrow lead and preventing Omegna from getting out in transition.

Standout performers

Reggio Calabria’s backcourt controlled the game’s rhythm and made several important plays in the fourth quarter. Their leading scorer was efficient in the paint and from the free-throw line, while the team’s defensive rotations were sharp when Omegna tried to create open looks.

Omegna received a strong effort from their frontcourt, especially on the offensive glass, but they lacked the same level of late-game execution. Their guards created chances, yet the team’s shooting went cold at the worst possible moment.

Season impact

For Reggio Calabria, this is a confidence-building road win in Serie B Basket. Close victories against strong home teams can shape a season, and the visitors showed the kind of composure that coaches value in tight games. The result also strengthens their position in the standings and gives them momentum for the next fixture.

Omegna will feel they let a winnable game slip away. The defensive effort was there for long stretches, but better shot selection and execution in the final three minutes will be the focus in training. The margin between winning and losing at this level is small, and this game was a clear reminder of that.
