Virtus Lumezzane escaped with a 77-76 road win over Fortitudo Agrigento in Serie B Basket on 26 October 2026, winning a game that went down to the final possession. In a contest defined by defensive grit and clutch shot-making, Lumezzane’s composure in the closing seconds proved the difference.

The game was tight throughout, with neither team able to build a significant lead. Agrigento had chances late, but Lumezzane’s half-court defense and timely free throws secured a valuable away victory.

Match Overview

Agrigento edged the first quarter 21-19, but Lumezzane responded with an 18-20 second period to send the teams into halftime level at 39-39. The third quarter was equally tense, with Lumezzane taking a 59-56 advantage into the final period.

The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle. Agrigento fought back to level the score in the closing minutes, but Lumezzane converted key free throws and forced a difficult final shot. The visitors survived a last-second attempt to claim a 77-76 win.

Key Moments

The decisive sequence came in the final minute. With the score tied, Lumezzane’s guard drove into the lane and drew a foul, hitting both free throws to put the visitors ahead. Agrigento then missed a contested three-pointer, and although they regained possession after a scramble, Lumezzane’s defense held firm on the final play.

Earlier, a 9-2 run late in the third quarter had given Lumezzane the cushion they needed. Agrigento answered with a run of their own in the fourth, but the visitors never surrendered the lead after regaining it.

Tactical Story

Both teams prioritized defense, making every possession feel important. Lumezzane’s switching defense frustrated Agrigento’s pick-and-roll attack, while Agrigento’s zone look forced Lumezzane into several late-clock shots. The game was ultimately decided by execution in the final two minutes.

Lumezzane’s rebounding, particularly on the defensive end, limited Agrigento’s second-chance opportunities. On offense, they attacked the basket with purpose and made the right decisions when Agrigento collapsed the paint. Agrigento’s three-point shooting kept them in the game, but their inability to convert in the final possession proved costly.

Standout Performers

Lumezzane’s backcourt was outstanding under pressure, controlling the tempo and hitting crucial free throws. Their interior players also contributed key rebounds and defensive stops. For Agrigento, the leading scorer kept them in contention with timely baskets, while their center battled hard on the glass.

In a game this close, the small details mattered: a defensive rebound here, a made free throw there. Lumezzane made one more play than Agrigento, and that was enough.

Season Impact

This 77-76 road win is a major confidence boost for Virtus Lumezzane in the Serie B Basket standings. Winning games on the road, especially in such tight circumstances, can shape a team’s season. It shows that Lumezzane can handle pressure and execute in the clutch.

Fortitudo Agrigento will be frustrated by the result but can take heart from their competitiveness. They will need to improve their late-game execution and rebounding if they are to turn narrow defeats into victories. For Lumezzane, the focus now is on building momentum from a hard-fought win.
