ZKK Partizan Galenika Women made the short trip to Ras and came away with a 79-72 victory over Ras Women in the Serbian Women's Ženska košarkaška liga 1, a result built on a dominant second quarter and a composed closing stretch. The seven-point margin reflects a game that was close in the final minutes but controlled by the visitors for the better part of three quarters.

Match Overview

The Serbian top flight has long been one of the more physically demanding women's leagues in the region, and this contest fit the mould. Both teams defended aggressively, the referees let plenty go, and points came at a premium early. Ras opened brightly in front of their home supporters, trading baskets through the first six minutes before Partizan Galenika found their footing.

By the end of the first quarter the game was level. The second quarter, though, belonged almost entirely to the visitors.

Key Moments

• Second-quarter dominance: Partizan Galenika outscored Ras by eleven in the period, turning a tight game into a double-digit halftime lead.
• Transition offense: Two steals in the backcourt led directly to fast-break layups that extended the run and forced Ras into a timeout.
• Ras fightback: The hosts rallied in the fourth, cutting the lead to four with two minutes to play on a corner three.
• Closing execution: Partizan Galenika answered with a patient possession that produced an and-one, then converted free throws down the stretch to keep Ras at arm's length.

Tactical Story

The decisive factor was interior play. Partizan Galenika's frontcourt won the rebounding battle on both ends and consistently scored over Ras's smaller lineup in the paint. When Ras collapsed into the lane, the visitors made them pay from the perimeter with timely three-point shooting.

Ras's offense relied heavily on individual creation from their guards, and while that produced some spectacular moments, it also led to stretches of stagnant possessions. Their best basketball came when they pushed the ball in transition and attacked before Partizan Galenika's defense could set, which is precisely how they engineered their fourth-quarter run.

Standout Performers

Partizan Galenika's leading scorer was efficient from the field and effective at drawing fouls, finishing with a team-high total that included several crucial baskets in the closing minutes. Their point guard deserves credit for controlling tempo and limiting turnovers against full-court pressure.

For Ras, the guard play was a bright spot. Their primary ball-handler scored consistently and created open looks for teammates, while a young forward showed promise on the boards. The home side will feel they left points at the free-throw line in a game decided by single digits.

Season Impact

This is a significant road win in the Ženska košarkaška liga 1 standings, and it strengthens Partizan Galenika's position among the league's leading group. Winning away from home in Serbia's top women's division is never straightforward, particularly in a hostile gym against a team fighting for every possession.

For Ras Women, the defeat is a missed opportunity to claim a statement result. Their second-half response showed character and suggests the gap between them and the traditional powers is not as wide as the first-half scoreline indicated.

What's Next

Both sides return to league action in the coming days, with Partizan Galenika looking to protect their momentum and Ras hoping to carry their fourth-quarter form into their next outing.
