ZKK Kraljevo Women produced a composed, professional road performance on Saturday night, defeating Korac Akademija Women 64-52 in the Serbian Women's Zenska kosarkaska liga. The visitors controlled the game from the second quarter onward, combining disciplined defense with efficient inside scoring to hand the Belgrade-based academy side a home defeat.

A competitive opening quarter

Korac Akademija came into the game with the energy typical of a young academy team, attacking early and looking to push the tempo against a more experienced Kraljevo side. Guard Sara Jovic opened the scoring with a three-pointer, and for the first eight minutes the two teams traded baskets in an entertaining, fast-paced exchange.

Kraljevo, however, was already showing signs of the control that would define the rest of the night. Centre Jovana Petrovic established herself in the paint early, scoring eight points in the first quarter alone, and the visitors ended the period with an 18-14 lead.

Kraljevo takes control

The second quarter was where the game tilted decisively. Korac Akademija's shooting went cold, and Kraljevo's zone defense forced a series of rushed attempts late in the shot clock. On the other end, Milica Stankovic knocked down two three-pointers in quick succession to stretch the lead into double digits.

By halftime, Kraljevo led 33-26, and the pattern of the game had been established: the visitors were winning the rebounding battle, controlling the pace and forcing Korac to work extremely hard for every basket.

Defense and rebounding decide it

The third quarter followed a similar script. Kraljevo's defensive intensity never dropped, and Korac Akademija struggled to generate clean looks against a well-organized half-court defense. Every time the home side threatened to make a run, Kraljevo had an answer — usually through Petrovic inside or Ana Radovanovic in transition.

By the end of the third, the score was 50-39, and while Korac continued to compete, the gap in execution was clear.

Standout performers

Petrovic was the dominant figure of the game, finishing with 20 points and 12 rebounds while anchoring her team's defense in the paint. Stankovic added 14 points and four assists, and Radovanovic chipped in with 12 points, giving Kraljevo a balanced attack that Korac simply could not contain.

For Korac Akademija, Jovic was the bright spot with 16 points and several impressive drives to the basket, while Tijana Markovic added 13 points. The young squad showed flashes of real quality but lacked the consistency needed against a seasoned opponent.

What it means for the season

The win is an important one for ZKK Kraljevo, who continue to build momentum in the Serbian Women's Zenska kosarkaska liga. Road victories in this competition are never easy, and winning by double digits on an opponent's home floor sends a clear message about the team's ambitions.

For Korac Akademija Women, the defeat is a learning experience. Competing against established sides is exactly what a development-focused club needs, and the performances of Jovic and Markovic suggest the future is bright. Results like this one will be measured less by the scoreboard and more by how quickly this young group grows.
