Vojvodina produced a strong home performance to beat Čačak 94 90-82 in the Serbia Basketball League, using a decisive third-quarter run and a dominant inside presence to secure the win in Novi Sad. The hosts led by four at halftime, then created separation after the break before holding off a late Čačak push.

Vojvodina started aggressively, attacking the paint and drawing early fouls to build a 24-18 lead after the first quarter. Čačak 94 responded in the second with better perimeter shooting and forced several turnovers, but Vojvodina maintained a narrow edge at the break thanks to second-chance points and a solid contribution from their bench.

Key moments

The game turned in the third quarter. Leading 46-44, Vojvodina put together a 10-0 run over a three-minute stretch, capped by a fast-break dunk and a three-pointer from the top of the key. The burst forced Čačak 94 into a timeout and gave the home side a double-digit cushion. Čačak 94 trimmed the lead to six early in the fourth, but Vojvodina answered with back-to-back baskets in the paint and never let the visitors get closer than four down the stretch.

Free-throw shooting also played a role late. Vojvodina made 14 of 17 attempts in the fourth quarter, while Čačak 94 was forced to foul and could not convert consistently enough on the other end to complete the comeback.

Tactical story

Vojvodina controlled the game inside, finishing with a significant advantage in points in the paint and offensive rebounds. Their big men established deep post position early, which opened up driving lanes for the guards and created open corner threes when Čačak 94 helped defensively. The hosts also did a better job of taking care of the ball in the second half, limiting live-ball turnovers that had kept Čačak 94 close in the first two quarters.

Čačak 94 relied on three-point shooting to stay in the game and hit several contested shots, but their offense became stagnant when Vojvodina switched to a more physical defensive approach. The visitors struggled to generate clean looks in the final five minutes and were outrebounded on the offensive glass at key moments.

Standout performers

Vojvodina forward Stefan Ilić led all scorers with 22 points and nine rebounds, consistently winning one-on-one matchups in the post. Guard Nemanja Petrović added 17 points and eight assists, orchestrating the offense and hitting a crucial three during the third-quarter run. Reserve guard Luka Đorđević gave the hosts a spark with 11 points off the bench.

Čačak 94 was paced by guard Aleksandar Jovanović, who scored 21 points and kept his team within striking distance with tough shot-making. Forward Miloš Stanković contributed 14 points and seven rebounds, but the visitors’ frontcourt struggled to contain Vojvodina’s interior scoring.

What it means

The win gives Vojvodina a valuable home result in the Serbia Basketball League standings and reinforces their strength in the paint. For Čačak 94, the loss is a reminder that they need more balance between perimeter shooting and interior scoring, especially when the pace slows in the fourth quarter. Both teams will now turn their attention to the next round, with Vojvodina looking to carry the momentum and Čačak 94 aiming to tighten up their defensive rebounding.
