The Serbia Basketball League delivered a road statement on October 26, 2026, as Borac Zemun defeated Hercegovac 85-71 in a game that stayed close for three quarters before the visitors pulled away late. Borac Zemun’s backcourt controlled the tempo down the stretch, turning a tight contest into a double-digit win and reinforcing their reputation as one of the league’s more dangerous teams away from home.

Match Overview

Hercegovac opened with energy in front of their home crowd, using early three-point shooting to build a narrow lead. Borac Zemun answered with balanced scoring inside and out, and the first half featured six lead changes. The turning point came midway through the third quarter, when Borac Zemun unleashed a 12-2 run that flipped a one-point deficit into a nine-point advantage. Hercegovac never recovered fully, and the visitors closed out the final period with poise from the free-throw line.

The final score of 85-71 reflected Borac Zemun’s superior execution in the second half, particularly on the defensive end. Hercegovac shot just 38% from the field after halftime and committed 11 turnovers, many of which turned into transition points for the visitors.

Key Moments

• Third-quarter surge: Borac Zemun’s 12-2 run, sparked by back-to-back steals from point guard Nikola Jovanović, gave the visitors a lead they would not relinquish.
• Three-point barrage: Jovanović and wing Stefan Marković combined for five second-half three-pointers, stretching Hercegovac’s defense and opening driving lanes.
• Clutch free throws: Borac Zemun converted 14 of 16 free throws in the fourth quarter to keep Hercegovac at arm’s length.

Tactical Story

Borac Zemun’s full-court pressure was the defining tactical adjustment of the game. After allowing Hercegovac to shoot 45% in the first half, head coach Dragan Milić switched to a more aggressive trapping defense that forced Hercegovac’s guards into hurried decisions. The result was a series of live-ball turnovers that Borac Zemun converted into easy baskets.

Offensively, Borac Zemun relied on pick-and-roll actions with Jovanović and Marković, attacking Hercegovac’s slower big men in space. When Hercegovac collapsed the paint, the visitors swung the ball to shooters on the wing. Hercegovac, meanwhile, settled for contested jumpers and struggled to generate second-chance points, finishing with only six offensive rebounds.

Standout Players

Nikola Jovanović led Borac Zemun with 22 points and 7 assists, adding 4 steals. His ability to break down Hercegovac’s defense off the dribble was the game’s most consistent offensive weapon. Stefan Marković added 18 points and 11 rebounds, dominating the glass in the second half and hitting two crucial three-pointers.

For Hercegovac, Miloš Petrović scored 19 points and grabbed 5 rebounds, while Aleksandar Ilić chipped in 14 points. However, the home side’s bench managed just 9 points, underscoring the depth gap between the two teams.

Season Impact

The win lifts Borac Zemun into a stronger position in the Serbia Basketball League standings, keeping them within striking distance of the top four. For Hercegovac, the loss highlights ongoing inconsistencies at home, where they have now dropped two of their last three. Borac Zemun will look to carry the momentum into their next fixture, while Hercegovac must address their second-half offensive execution before the next round.
