Match overview

Hunan Normal University set the tone with intense perimeter defense and active hands. Shanxi University of Finance and Economics struggled to find clean shots in the half court, and the hosts’ scoring droughts allowed Hunan Normal to build confidence. The visitors moved the ball well enough to create balanced scoring, but the story of the game was their work without the ball.

By halftime, Hunan Normal had established a working margin. Shanxi showed brief signs of life with a third-quarter push, but the visitors responded with another defensive stretch and gradually pulled away. The final score of 57-40 reflected Hunan Normal’s control over the pace and tempo of the contest.

Key moments

• A second-quarter run gave Hunan Normal breathing room and forced Shanxi to chase the game.
• Shanxi’s best stretch came early in the third quarter, but the hosts could not sustain the momentum.
• Hunan Normal closed the fourth quarter with a decisive run, sealing the road win.

Tactical story

Hunan Normal University’s half-court trap and help defense caused problems throughout the game. Shanxi University of Finance and Economics was often forced into late shot-clock attempts, and the hosts’ turnovers fueled Hunan Normal’s transition attack. On the boards, Hunan Normal limited second-chance opportunities and made Shanxi work for every point.

Shanxi’s offense never found a consistent rhythm. The hosts had moments of good ball movement, but cold perimeter shooting and turnovers prevented them from building any sustained pressure. Hunan Normal’s ability to control the paint and contest shots without fouling was a major factor in the 17-point margin.

Standout performers

Hunan Normal’s guards dictated the game on both ends, applying pressure defensively and making smart decisions in transition. Shanxi’s interior players battled on the glass, but the team’s overall shooting struggles made it difficult to keep pace. The visitors’ balanced scoring made them difficult to defend for the full 40 minutes.

The 57-40 road win is a strong statement for Hunan Normal University in the Sport College Basketball Association. It shows the team can win with defense and composure, even when the offense is not at its most explosive.
