Southwest University women briefly threatened early in the third quarter, but Guangxi Normal University answered with a 10-2 run that pushed the advantage into double digits.

Tactical story

Guangxi Normal University’s offensive plan centered on paint touches and offensive rebounding. The hosts repeatedly attacked the baseline and created open looks for shooters when Southwest University women collapsed on the ball. Defensively, Guangxi Normal University mixed man-to-man pressure with a compact zone that limited easy drives and forced the visitors into contested jump shots.

Southwest University women found success when they played with pace, pushing the ball after misses and attacking before the home defense could set. However, their half-court offense became stagnant for long stretches in the third quarter, and the lack of second-chance points proved costly.

Standout performers

Guangxi Normal University’s starting backcourt controlled the tempo and repeatedly broke Southwest University’s pressure. The home post players were active on the glass and gave the team a physical presence inside. Southwest University women’s leading scorer kept the visitors alive with timely three-point shooting, while their guards competed hard on defense despite the unfavorable final score.

Season impact

The win gives Guangxi Normal University women an important early-season result and reinforces their ability to close out games at home. For Southwest University women, the 10-point loss is a narrow enough margin to suggest they can compete in the conference, but the team will need cleaner half-court execution and stronger rebounding to convert close games into victories.
