Central South University raced to a 26-12 lead after the first quarter and extended the advantage to 49-26 by halftime. The third quarter was even more decisive, with Central South outscoring Zhengzhou 28-13 to put the game completely out of reach. • First quarter: Central South University 26-12
• Second quarter: Central South University 23-14
• Third quarter: Central South University 28-13
• Fourth quarter: Central South University 20-13

Central South University’s 97-point performance was powered by transition scoring, offensive rebounding, and a deep rotation that kept constant pressure on Zhengzhou. The visitors struggled to handle Central South’s full-court pressure and committed numerous turnovers that led to easy baskets.

Key moments

Central South University opened the game with a 14-0 run, setting the tone for the afternoon. Zhengzhou University finally scored nearly five minutes into the first quarter, but the damage was already done. The hosts closed the first half with a 9-2 run and then opened the third quarter with a 12-0 burst that pushed the lead past 30 points.

Tactical story

Central South University’s full-court press was relentless. The hosts trapped ball handlers in the corners, forced cross-court passes, and converted steals into layups. Offensively, Central South attacked the rim in waves and kicked out to open shooters when Zhengzhou collapsed. The bench maintained the same intensity, which allowed the starters to rest for much of the second half.

Zhengzhou University struggled to break the pressure and often settled for contested three-pointers. The visitors’ half-court offense was stagnant, and their inability to secure defensive rebounds allowed Central South to extend possessions.

Standout performers

Central South University’s guards dictated the pace and repeatedly turned defense into offense. The team’s wings ran the floor hard, and the post players controlled the glass on both ends. Zhengzhou University’s leading scorer showed determination despite the scoreline, but the visitors had few answers for Central South’s depth and defensive pressure.

Season impact

The 45-point win sends a clear statement about Central South University’s potential in the Sport College Basketball Association. The team’s depth, defensive intensity, and transition scoring make it a difficult matchup for any opponent. For Zhengzhou University, the loss is a tough learning experience, and the team will need to improve its ball handling and rebounding to remain competitive in upcoming games.
