Elfic Fribourg Women delivered one of the most emphatic road performances of the Swiss Basketball League Women season on Sunday, dismantling Helios VS Basket (W) 106-85 in a game that was effectively decided well before the final buzzer. The visitors crossed the century mark for the night, combining efficient perimeter shooting with a dominant inside presence to hand Helios a punishing home defeat.

Match Overview

Fribourg set the tone from the opening tip, pushing the tempo and refusing to let Helios settle into their half-court sets. The Swiss giants scored 28 points in the first quarter alone, and by halftime the lead had grown into double digits and was never seriously threatened afterwards.

The final margin of 21 points reflects the gap in execution between the two sides. Helios competed hard on the boards and found some success in transition, but they had no answer for Fribourg's balanced attack, which saw scoring contributions flow from the backcourt and the paint in equal measure.

Quarter-by-Quarter Breakdown

• Q1: Elfic Fribourg 28 – 21 Helios VS Basket
• Q2: Elfic Fribourg 27 – 22 Helios VS Basket (55-43 at halftime)
• Q3: Elfic Fribourg 26 – 20 Helios VS Basket (81-63)
• Q4: Elfic Fribourg 25 – 22 Helios VS Basket (106-85 final)

Fribourg won every single quarter of the contest, a statistic that underlines just how controlled the performance was. Their most damaging stretch came midway through the third period, when a rapid 10-2 run stretched the advantage past 20 points and took the remaining suspense out of the game.

Key Moments

Helios enjoyed their best spell early in the second quarter, trimming the deficit to seven points behind aggressive drives to the rim and a pair of second-chance baskets. That momentum evaporated quickly. Fribourg responded with back-to-back three-pointers and a fast-break layup, restoring a comfortable cushion within ninety seconds.

Another pivotal moment arrived late in the third, when a Helios turnover led to an uncontested transition score that pushed the lead beyond the 20-point mark. From there, Fribourg managed the game intelligently, rotating their bench and keeping the clock moving while still adding to their total.

Standout Performances

Fribourg's scoring was spread across the roster, which is precisely what makes them so difficult to game-plan against. Their guards controlled the tempo with patient ball movement, repeatedly finding open shooters on the wing, while the frontcourt dominated the offensive glass to create extra possessions.

For Helios, the night highlighted both their fight and their limitations. They matched Fribourg's intensity for stretches and produced some of the best offensive sequences of their season, but defensive rotations were a step slow and their shooting percentage fell away as the deficit grew.

What It Means for the Standings

The victory reinforces Elfic Fribourg Women's position among the elite of the Swiss Basketball League Women, a competition they have historically dominated. Performances like this one — 106 points on the road, four quarters won — send a clear message to the rest of the league about the standard required to compete at the top.

Helios VS Basket, meanwhile, will take encouragement from their offensive output against a top-tier opponent, but the defensive issues that allowed a century of points remain the priority to address. The result is a reminder of the depth gap at the summit of the Swiss women's game, and it leaves both clubs with clear agendas as the season progresses.
