How the Game Was Won

Aarau’s defense was the foundation of the win. They communicated well on switches, closed out hard on shooters, and forced Pully into low-percentage attempts. The visitors also dominated the defensive glass, limiting second-chance points and allowing their guards to push the ball in transition.

Offensively, Aarau shared the ball beautifully. They recorded assists on a high percentage of their baskets, finding open shooters in the corners and cutters along the baseline. Pully’s zone defense was picked apart by quick ball reversals and patient half-court execution.

Tactical Story

Aarau’s game plan was clear: pressure the ball, deny easy entries into the post, and attack in transition. Pully tried to slow the pace, but Aarau’s guards kept the tempo high. When Pully attempted to trap, Aarau’s ball handlers made smart skip passes to open teammates.

Pully’s struggles were mostly offensive. They had difficulty creating clean looks against Aarau’s half-court defense and settled for contested jumpers. Their post players worked hard on the block, but Aarau’s double-teams arrived quickly and forced difficult passes.

Standout Performers

Aarau’s backcourt controlled the game with poise, scoring from beyond the arc and setting up teammates in transition. The wings ran the floor relentlessly and were rewarded with easy baskets. Inside, Aarau’s frontcourt protected the rim and finished efficiently around the basket.

For Pully, the leading scorers showed flashes of quality, but the team’s overall shooting percentage was too low to keep pace. Their defense had moments of intensity, but Aarau’s ball movement consistently created open shots. It was a difficult night against a well-organized opponent.

Season Impact

The win strengthens Alte Kanti Aarau Women’s position in the Swiss Basketball League Women standings and gives them valuable momentum on the road. A 28-point margin also sends a message to the rest of the competition about their depth and defensive capability.

Esperance Sportive Pully Women will need to regroup quickly. The loss highlights areas for improvement, particularly offensive execution and rebounding. With plenty of games remaining, Pully will look to correct those issues and bounce back in their next outing.
