Elfic Fribourg Women edged past Nyon Basket Women 71–64 in Swiss Basketball League Women action, grinding out a hard-fought home victory in a game defined by defensive intensity and clutch execution down the stretch. Fribourg extended their strong home record with a performance that was far from flashy but impressively controlled.

Match Overview

The contest was tight throughout the opening half, with both teams trading baskets and neither side able to build a meaningful cushion. Nyon's half-court defense frustrated Fribourg early, forcing contested shots and limiting easy looks in the paint. Fribourg, however, stayed patient and gradually found rhythm through ball movement and second-chance opportunities.

The second half saw Fribourg tighten their own defense, and that proved decisive. Nyon's shooting cooled, while the hosts converted key possessions in the fourth quarter to pull away for a seven-point win.

Key Moments

• Second-quarter defensive stand: Fribourg held Nyon scoreless for a stretch that shifted the momentum and allowed the hosts to take a narrow lead into the break.
• Third-quarter spark: A quick run out of halftime gave Fribourg their first double-digit cushion of the evening.
• Fourth-quarter resilience: Nyon cut the deficit to single digits in the closing minutes, but Fribourg answered with composed free-throw shooting and a crucial stop on the defensive end.

Tactical Story

Fribourg's victory was built on defense and rebounding. Their ability to limit Nyon's second-chance points and control the defensive glass proved the difference in a game where both offenses struggled for long stretches. Offensively, Fribourg leaned on disciplined half-court sets, working the ball inside-out and attacking mismatches when Nyon switched screens.

Nyon competed well on the perimeter and showed flashes of sharp ball movement, but turnovers in key moments and a cold shooting spell after halftime proved costly. Their late push demonstrated character, though Fribourg's composure in the final possessions was ultimately the deciding factor.

Standout Performers

Fribourg's balanced scoring was central to the win, with contributions spread across the starting rotation and the bench providing valuable energy minutes. The hosts' interior presence on the boards and steady guard play under pressure stood out. Nyon's effort was led by determined perimeter defense and aggressive drives, but the visitors lacked the final-quarter execution needed to complete the comeback.

Season Impact

The win keeps Elfic Fribourg Women firmly in the upper reaches of the Swiss Basketball League Women standings and underlines their credentials as a team capable of winning tight, low-scoring games as well as open, high-tempo ones. That versatility matters in a league where playoff seeding is often decided by narrow margins.

Nyon Basket Women leave with a respectable performance but will rue the scoring drought that separated the two sides. Turning competitive defeats into victories is the next step for a group showing clear progress.

What's Next

Fribourg will aim to build on this result in their next league outing, while Nyon return to training focused on late-game execution and offensive consistency.
