Sodertalje BBK delivered a statement performance in Svenska Basketligan, dismantling Uppsala Basket 104-57 at home. The 47-point margin was built on relentless defensive pressure, efficient three-point shooting, and a dominant first half that effectively decided the contest before halftime.

Sodertalje led 56-27 at the break and never allowed Uppsala to mount a serious comeback. The win improves Sodertalje’s early-season standing and sends a clear message about their depth and defensive intensity.

Match overview

The game was never close. Sodertalje opened with a 12-2 run and forced Uppsala into turnovers on three of their first five possessions. By the end of the first quarter, the hosts led 30-14. The second quarter was even more one-sided, as Sodertalje’s bench extended the lead with transition baskets and open threes. Uppsala managed just 13 points in the period and went into halftime down 29.

The third quarter brought more of the same. Sodertalje’s full-court pressure created easy scoring opportunities, and the lead ballooned to 38 by the end of the period. The fourth quarter was played at a slower pace, but the outcome was never in doubt.

Key moments

The defining stretch came midway through the second quarter. Leading 36-20, Sodertalje went on a 16-0 run over a four-minute span, turning a competitive game into a rout. The run featured three steals, two fast-break dunks, and a pair of three-pointers from the wing. Uppsala called two timeouts during the sequence but could not stop the momentum.

Another notable moment came early in the third quarter, when Sodertalje hit three consecutive three-pointers in less than 90 seconds. That burst pushed the lead past 30 and effectively ended any hope of a Uppsala comeback.

Tactical story

Sodertalje’s defensive game plan was clear: pressure the ball, deny easy entry passes, and force Uppsala’s guards into decisions. The hosts rotated aggressively and contested every shot, holding Uppsala to 34% shooting from the field. Sodertalje also dominated the rebounding battle, limiting second-chance points and fueling their transition attack.

On offense, Sodertalje shared the ball beautifully. They finished with 26 assists and consistently found the open man against Uppsala’s rotating defense. The hosts shot 14-of-31 from three-point range and attacked the rim whenever Uppsala closed out too hard.

Standout players

• William Borg (Sodertalje BBK) led all scorers with 26 points, including five three-pointers.
• Anton Jonsson (Sodertalje BBK) added 20 points and 11 rebounds, controlling the paint on both ends.
• Filip Ek (Sodertalje BBK) came off the bench for 15 points and 6 assists, sparking the decisive second-quarter run.
• Oscar Lindberg (Uppsala Basket) was Uppsala’s top scorer with 12 points, but the team struggled to find rhythm against Sodertalje’s pressure.

Season impact

This was the kind of win that can shape a season. Sodertalje BBK’s point differential and defensive dominance will make them a team to watch in the Svenska Basketligan standings. Uppsala Basket will need to regroup quickly, particularly on offense, after a performance that exposed their struggles against full-court pressure. The two teams will meet again later in the campaign, but this night belonged entirely to Sodertalje.
