MBK Lucenec claimed a 90-83 home victory over BK Iskra Svit in the Slovenska Basketbalova Liga on 25 October 2026, using a composed closing stretch to turn a tight contest into a seven-point win. The result gives Lucenec an important boost in the standings and hands Iskra Svit a frustrating away defeat in a game that stayed competitive deep into the fourth quarter.

Match Overview

Lucenec led 24-19 after the first quarter, but Iskra Svit responded strongly in the second to keep the game close. The hosts took a 45-41 advantage into halftime, then produced their best spell of the night in the third period to build a 68-59 cushion. Svit refused to fade and cut the deficit to two points late in the fourth, but Lucenec found the answers at both ends to close out the win.

The final quarter was played at a high tempo, with both teams trading baskets and free throws. Lucenec’s ability to protect the ball in the final two minutes proved decisive, while Svit were left to rue a handful of empty possessions in crunch time.

Key Moments

The home side’s third-quarter run changed the shape of the contest. Lucenec attacked the paint consistently, drew fouls and converted second-chance opportunities to move from a narrow lead to a nine-point advantage. Svit answered with a run of their own in the fourth, sparked by perimeter shooting and transition baskets, but Lucenec’s late defensive stops and made free throws settled the game.

A crucial sequence inside the final 90 seconds saw Lucenec force a missed shot, secure the rebound and convert at the other end to push the lead back to two possessions. From there, the hosts managed the clock well and denied Svit a clean look at a game-tying three-pointer.

Tactical Story

Lucenec’s inside-out approach worked well for long stretches. The hosts generated points in the paint, moved the ball effectively against Svit’s half-court defense and used offensive rebounds to extend possessions. Their defensive adjustments after halftime also made life harder for Svit’s primary ball handlers, forcing several contested shots late in the clock.

Iskra Svit stayed in the game through their three-point shooting and quick transition attacks. When their perimeter shots fell, they looked capable of stealing the result. The difference was Lucenec’s control of the rebound battle and their efficiency at the free-throw line in the closing minutes.

Standout Performers

Lucenec’s backcourt set the tone with a balanced scoring display and smart decision-making in the fourth quarter. The home side’s leading scorer finished with 18 points and seven assists, while a Lucenec forward delivered a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Svit’s top scorer kept his team in contention with 22 points, including several important baskets in the second half.

Standings and Head-to-Head Impact

The win strengthens Lucenec’s position in the Slovenska Basketbalova Liga standings and adds another competitive chapter to the head-to-head record between the two clubs. For Iskra Svit, the loss is a narrow setback rather than a damaging one, but it highlights the need for better late-game execution on the road. Both teams will now turn their attention to the next round of fixtures as the league table begins to take shape.
