Koping Stars fell 76-79 to Sodertalje BBK in a tightly contested Svenska Basketligan game on October 24, 2026, at 00:00, with the visitors edging the final possessions in a matchup that remained undecided until the last shot. The three-point margin captured the closeness of a game in which neither team led by more than a handful of points for long stretches.

Match Overview

Koping Stars opened with energy at home, attacking the rim and forcing Sodertalje into early foul trouble. Sodertalje BBK responded with poise, using their half-court offense to create open looks and slowly settle into the game. The first half was a back-and-forth affair, with Koping’s transition game producing easy baskets and Sodertalje’s perimeter shooting keeping the visitors within reach.

The second half turned into a grind. Both teams tightened their defense, and scoring became harder to come by. Every possession felt important, and the lead changed hands multiple times in the fourth quarter. In the end, Sodertalje’s execution in the final minute — a made shot, a defensive stop, and a pair of free throws — proved the difference.

Key Moments

With the score tied late, Sodertalje ran a patient possession that produced a quality look from the mid-range. After the make, Koping pushed the ball in transition but was met by a set defense and forced into a contested three. Sodertalje secured the rebound, drew a foul, and converted at the line. Koping had one final opportunity to tie, but the attempt rimmed out, allowing the visitors to escape with a 79-76 win.

Tactical Story

Koping’s game plan centered on pace and paint touches. Their guards consistently probed the lane, looking for kick-out passes or offensive rebounds. Sodertalje countered by packing the paint and forcing Koping to shoot from the perimeter. Offensively, Sodertalje relied on ball screens and off-ball movement to create mismatches, and their patience in the half-court paid off late.

The rebounding battle was nearly even, but Sodertalje’s ability to limit second-chance points in the fourth quarter stood out. Koping’s defense generated some timely stops, but the hosts struggled to convert those stops into points when the game slowed down.

Standout Performers

Sodertalje’s backcourt controlled the tempo and made the biggest plays in the closing minutes, while their interior players held their ground against Koping’s aggressive drives. Koping received strong contributions from their wings, who attacked the basket and kept the hosts in the game. The difference was late-game shot selection: Sodertalje found quality looks, while Koping settled for tougher attempts in the final two minutes.

Season Impact

The road win gives Sodertalje BBK an early confidence boost in the Svenska Basketligan standings, especially because it came against a Koping side that will be difficult to beat at home this season. For Koping Stars, the 76-79 loss is a painful one, but the performance showed they can compete with one of the league’s established contenders. In a league where playoff seeding can hinge on a few possessions, both teams will remember this game when the return fixture arrives.
