Hogsbo Basket edged past KFUM Nassjo 85-81 in a tense Svenska Basketligan clash that came down to the closing two minutes. The Gothenburg side protected a narrow lead through a nervy final stretch, converting free throws and getting one crucial defensive stop to hold off a Nassjo team that refused to go away.

A tight game from start to finish

There was little to separate the sides across the first three quarters. Hogsbo's half-court offence ran through their perimeter shooting and well-timed cuts to the rim, while Nassjo answered with patient possessions and a steady diet of paint touches. The lead changed hands repeatedly, and neither coach was able to find a run big enough to break the game open.

The margins stayed small because both teams took care of the ball reasonably well and shot at a similar clip. Where Hogsbo gained their edge was on the offensive glass and at the free-throw line — small advantages that added up over forty minutes.

How Hogsbo got it done

Hogsbo's win was built on balance. Their scoring was spread across the lineup, with contributions from the backcourt and the frontcourt alike, which made them harder to defend in the fourth quarter than a one-man team would be. The hosts also made smart decisions late, working the ball into good spots rather than settling for early contested threes when the clock was their ally.

Defensively, Hogsbo's ability to contest Nassjo's primary creators in the final minutes was the difference. A key stop inside the last thirty seconds, followed by made free throws, effectively sealed the result.

Nassjo's near miss

KFUM Nassjo will feel this was a game they let slip. They shot well enough to win in stretches, kept the rebounding battle competitive and produced a fourth-quarter push that cut the deficit to a single possession. In the end, a couple of empty possessions at the worst possible moment and a missed opportunity on the offensive glass proved decisive.

The encouraging sign for Nassjo is that their road form continues to look competitive. A four-point loss away from home against a solid opponent is not a result to panic over, but it is one that will sting in a tight league table.

Svenska Basketligan context

Games like this are typical of the Swedish top division, where the mid-table is compressed and home advantage often decides the outcome. Hogsbo's ability to close out a one-possession game is a valuable trait over a long season, and the win keeps them moving in the right direction in the standings. Nassjo, meanwhile, will look to convert similar performances into wins in their upcoming home fixtures.
