HBK Prievidza delivered one of the most dominant performances of the Slovenska Basketbalova Liga round, crushing Nitra Blue Wings 122-79 on October 18, 2026. The home side controlled the game from the opening minutes and never allowed Nitra to settle, turning a strong first half into a rout with a devastating third-quarter display.

The 43-point margin told the story of Prievidza’s offensive efficiency and Nitra’s defensive struggles. Prievidza moved the ball well, attacked the paint with purpose, and knocked down open shots from the perimeter, while Nitra had no consistent answer at either end of the floor.

Match overview

Prievidza set the tone with a 31-18 first quarter and extended the lead to 61-40 by halftime. The game was effectively decided in the third, when the hosts outscored Nitra 34-19 to push the advantage beyond 30 points. The final quarter was played at a similar tempo, with Prievidza maintaining their focus and closing out a statement win.

• First quarter: HBK Prievidza 31, Nitra Blue Wings 18
• Second quarter: HBK Prievidza 30, Nitra Blue Wings 22

Key moments

The defining run came late in the first half. Leading 42-30, Prievidza went on a 15-2 surge over the next four minutes, with Marek Jaššo orchestrating the attack and Ivan Ďuriš dominating the offensive glass. That burst took the game out of Nitra’s reach before halftime.

Any hope of a Nitra comeback disappeared early in the third quarter. Prievidza opened the second half with a 12-0 run, forcing turnovers and converting them into easy baskets. The home crowd was fully involved by the time the lead reached 35 points, and the remaining minutes were played with the result no longer in doubt.

Tactical story

Prievidza’s offense was built on quick ball movement and aggressive drives. They repeatedly broke down Nitra’s defense off the dribble, then found open shooters when the help defense collapsed. The hosts also dominated the rebounding battle, creating extra possessions and limiting Nitra’s second-chance opportunities.

Nitra struggled to contain Prievidza in transition and gave up too many open looks from beyond the arc. Their half-court offense was often reduced to contested jumpers, and when Prievidza increased the pressure in the third quarter, Nitra’s ball handlers were forced into costly mistakes.

Standout players

Marek Jaššo was the engine for Prievidza, finishing with 26 points and nine assists. Ivan Ďuriš added 20 points and 12 rebounds, controlling the paint on both ends. Nitra’s Dávid Škriniar led his team with 18 points, but he received limited support as the visitors fell further behind.

Standings impact

The victory boosts Prievidza’s position in the Slovenska Basketbalova Liga standings and sends a clear message about their scoring potential. Nitra will need to regroup quickly, especially on defense, after a result that exposed significant gaps in their rotations and rebounding. The head-to-head record now favors Prievidza in emphatic fashion, and the margin could matter if tiebreakers become relevant later in the season.
