Key moments

The decisive run came late in the second quarter, when Lausanne closed the half with a 9-2 burst to turn a five-point lead into a 43-32 halftime advantage. Starwings had stayed within striking distance until that point, but the late collapse forced them to chase the game after the break. The hosts briefly cut the deficit to eight in the third quarter, but Lausanne responded with back-to-back three-pointers to restore control.

Tactical story

Lausanne’s defense was the foundation of the win. The visitors contested shots, forced Starwings into difficult mid-range attempts, and limited second-chance opportunities with strong defensive rebounding. Offensively, Lausanne moved the ball patiently and attacked mismatches inside, drawing fouls and getting to the free-throw line. Starwings struggled with turnovers in the first half, which allowed Lausanne to build a lead without needing a huge shooting night.

In the second half, Starwings increased their defensive intensity and made the game more physical, but they could not string together enough stops to mount a serious comeback. Lausanne’s half-court execution in the fourth quarter, particularly their ability to find open shooters against the zone, sealed the result.

Standout performers and bench impact

Lausanne’s guards controlled the tempo and made several key shots in the third and fourth quarters, while their frontcourt dominated the glass and protected the rim. The bench provided steady minutes and helped maintain the defensive intensity. For Starwings, the leading scorers worked hard to keep the team competitive, but the hosts lacked the offensive balance needed to match Lausanne’s scoring runs.

What the result means

The win gives Lausanne a valuable road victory in the Swiss Basketball League standings and reinforces their ability to win with defense and balanced scoring. Starwings Basket Regio Basel will need to address their first-half turnovers and slow starts, which have made life difficult against strong opponents. Both teams will now prepare for their next fixtures, with Lausanne looking to build momentum and Starwings aiming to bounce back quickly.
