BBC Nyon produced a statement performance in the Swiss Basketball League on Saturday, October 17, 2026, overwhelming BBC Monthey 118-62 at home. The 56-point margin told the story of a game that was effectively decided long before the final buzzer, with Nyon’s pressure defense and transition offense setting a pace Monthey could not match.

Match overview

Nyon set the tone immediately, racing to a 28-12 lead after the first quarter and stretching the advantage to 57-29 by halftime. The third quarter brought no relief for Monthey, as the hosts poured in 31 points to lead 88-44 heading into the final period. Nyon finished with a season-high 118 points and never allowed Monthey to establish any rhythm in the half-court.

Key moments

The opening minutes set the pattern. Nyon forced early turnovers, converted them into quick layups, and opened a double-digit lead before Monthey could settle into its offense. A 15-2 run late in the second quarter turned a competitive start into a rout, and the hosts carried that momentum into the third quarter with another burst that pushed the lead beyond 40 points. By the time the benches emptied in the fourth, the only question was the final margin.

Tactical story

Nyon’s full-court pressure disrupted Monthey’s entry passes and forced a string of rushed shots. The hosts controlled the defensive glass, pushed the ball ahead quickly, and used their depth to maintain intensity even after substitutions. Monthey struggled to find clean looks in the half-court and was often reduced to contested perimeter attempts. Nyon’s inside-out offense also created open three-point looks, and the hosts capitalized with a balanced scoring effort that kept Monthey’s defense guessing all night.

Standout performers

Nyon’s leading scorer paced the attack with a game-high 24 points, while the captain added 18 points and seven assists. The hosts also received meaningful production from the bench, preserving the defensive standard and keeping the transition game flowing. Monthey’s most productive player finished with 16 points, but the visitors never found a consistent second option. The rebounding battle and turnover count both tilted heavily toward Nyon, reflecting the control the home side held from start to finish.

Season impact

The result strengthens Nyon’s position in the early Swiss Basketball League standings and gives the club a valuable head-to-head advantage should the teams meet again later in the campaign. A 56-point win can be a confidence boost, but it also sets a benchmark for the defensive intensity Nyon will want to sustain. For Monthey, the focus shifts quickly to regrouping and finding more reliable half-court offense before the next fixture. In a league where momentum matters, Nyon leave this game with plenty of it.
