Spartak Moscow Region Women claimed a convincing 75-43 victory over Spartak Moscow Region B Women in the Russia Women's Cup on October 28, 2026, producing a controlled and increasingly dominant performance in a club derby with a place in the next round at stake.

Match overview

The senior Spartak side entered as the clear favourite, but the B team made the early stages competitive by pushing the tempo and attacking the basket with confidence. Spartak Moscow Region Women, however, settled into their half-court sets and began to control the defensive glass. Once the hosts tightened their rotation and increased their pressure on the ball, the game shifted decisively in their favour.

By the second half, the margin had grown into a comfortable lead, and Spartak Moscow Region Women never allowed their younger counterparts to mount a serious comeback. The final quarter became an opportunity to manage minutes and give valuable cup experience to the full roster while still preserving a comfortable winning margin.

Key moments

The decisive spell came around the middle of the game, when Spartak Moscow Region Women strung together a series of defensive stops and converted them into quick transition points. That run broke the B team's resistance and turned a tight opening into a double-digit advantage. From that point, the senior side's size and experience around the paint made it difficult for the B team to close the gap.

• Defensive turning point: A stretch of consecutive stops forced the B team into contested late-clock shots.
• Transition burst: Spartak Moscow Region Women converted rebounds into easy baskets and stretched the lead.
• Bench contribution: The senior side's rotations maintained intensity and kept the scoring balanced.

Tactical story

Spartak Moscow Region Women won this cup tie with defense and depth. Their half-court defense limited clean looks near the rim, and their rebounding advantage prevented the B team from getting second-chance points. On offense, the senior side moved the ball well and attacked mismatches inside, which helped them score consistently without relying on a single dominant scorer. The B team showed flashes of energy and competitiveness, but the gap in physical maturity and execution became too large as the game wore on.

What the result means

For Spartak Moscow Region Women, the 75-43 win is a confident step forward in the Russia Women's Cup and a useful reminder of the depth within the club. It also gives the coaching staff room to rotate and evaluate combinations ahead of tougher fixtures. For the B team, the match offered valuable exposure against a stronger opponent, even if the final score was one-sided. The senior side's ability to control both ends after the first quarter was the defining feature of the night.
