Earlier, Spartak’s second-quarter run was important. After trailing 20-16, they went on a 9-2 spurt fueled by defensive stops and transition baskets. That run gave them a lead they would never fully surrender, even though Kazanochka kept the pressure on until the final minute.

Tactical story

Spartak Moscow Region B Women won this game with defense and poise. They limited Kazanochka’s leading scorer to a tough shooting night, forced turnovers in key moments, and controlled the defensive glass. Offensively, they were patient, often using ball screens to create mid-range opportunities and late-clock drives.

Kazanochka’s offense struggled to find rhythm against Spartak’s switching defense. They settled for too many contested jumpers and had trouble finishing inside against Spartak’s length. Their rebounding effort kept them in the game, but poor free-throw shooting and untimely turnovers proved costly.

Standout players

Spartak’s backcourt was the difference. Their point guard controlled the pace and made smart decisions, while their shooting guard hit the biggest shot of the game. The forward duo also contributed on the boards and defensively, helping limit Kazanochka’s second-chance points.

For Kazanochka Kazan Women, their center was the most consistent performer, scoring in the paint and blocking several shots. Their captain provided energy and leadership, but the team needed more balanced scoring to overcome Spartak’s defensive pressure.

Cup implications

This 63-58 win is a valuable road result for Spartak Moscow Region B Women in the Russia Women’s Cup. It shows they can win in a grinding, low-scoring environment, which is often required in knockout basketball. For Kazanochka Kazan Women, the loss is a tough one, but their defensive effort and rebounding give them positives to build on.

Spartak advances with confidence, while Kazanochka will look to improve their half-court execution in their next cup appearance.
