Enisey Krasnoyarsk II Women 38-86 Metallurg Magnitogorsk Women: Visitors Cruise in Russia Women's Cup

Metallurg Magnitogorsk Women produced a commanding 86-38 victory over Enisey Krasnoyarsk II Women in Russia Women's Cup action on 16 September 2026, a result that underlined the gap in experience between the two squads. The visitors controlled the game from the opening minutes and never allowed their hosts a route back into the contest.

A 48-point margin tells the story of a one-sided cup tie, but it also highlights the value of the Russia Women's Cup as a development platform for reserve and second teams facing senior opposition.

Match Overview

Metallurg set the tone immediately with aggressive perimeter defence and quick ball movement. Enisey Krasnoyarsk II struggled to find clean looks against a defence that switched effectively and closed out hard on shooters, and the deficit grew steadily through each period.

Key Moments

The opening quarter effectively decided the contest. Metallurg raced out to a double-digit lead within the first seven minutes, converting turnovers into transition baskets and dominating the defensive glass to deny Enisey second chances. By the end of the first period the margin was 16, and it never dipped below that figure again.

The third quarter brought the hosts' most competitive stretch, with Enisey Krasnoyarsk II generating better looks through patient half-court possessions and a few well-timed cuts. But Metallurg answered each mini-run with a burst of their own, and a strong finish in the fourth quarter pushed the final margin towards 50.

Tactical Story

Metallurg's dominance was built on three pillars:

• Defensive pressure: Extended pressure on the ball disrupted Enisey's entry passes and forced rushed decisions.
• Rebounding: Control of both backboards eliminated second-chance points and fuelled fast breaks.
• Balanced scoring: Contributions across the rotation kept the offence efficient even as the bench emptied.

Enisey Krasnoyarsk II, by contrast, found it difficult to establish any rhythm. Their half-court sets were disrupted early in the shot clock, and when they did create open looks, the shooting percentage did not reward the effort. Credit is due, however, for their persistence — the side continued to compete and execute their sets through the final buzzer rather than letting the scoreline dictate their effort.

Standout Performers

• Metallurg's backcourt: Dictated tempo, applied relentless on-ball pressure and converted turnovers into points.
• Metallurg's frontcourt: Owned the paint at both ends, finishing efficiently and protecting the rim.
• Metallurg's bench: Maintained intensity and extended the lead in the second half.
• Enisey Krasnoyarsk II's guards: Kept working for quality shots and showed composure against heavy pressure.

What It Means

Metallurg Magnitogorsk Women advance with confidence and a comfortable margin behind them, an important factor in a knockout competition where momentum can carry a team deep into the bracket. Their defensive identity and depth make them a difficult opponent for anyone in the next round.

For Enisey Krasnoyarsk II Women, the value lies in exposure. Facing a senior side of Metallurg's quality provides a benchmark for young players and a clear picture of the physical and technical standards required at the top level of Russian women's basketball. The Russia Women's Cup continues to serve exactly that purpose.
