Key moments

Al Khor’s best spell came early in the fourth quarter. Back-to-back three-pointers from Khalid Al-Mansouri and Rashid Al-Kuwari brought the home crowd to life and reduced the lead to 56-53. Al Wakrah remained calm, however, and responded with a 9-0 run over the next three minutes, capped by a fast-break dunk from Omar Al-Saad.

From there, Al Wakrah controlled the tempo, made free throws, and forced Al Khor into difficult perimeter shots. The visitors closed the game on a 17-10 run to secure a valuable road victory.

Tactical story

Al Wakrah’s half-court defense was the foundation of the win. They limited Al Khor to 39% shooting from the field and contested nearly every three-point attempt, holding the hosts to 7-of-26 from beyond the arc. Al Wakrah also won the rebounding battle 38-34 and committed only 12 turnovers.

On offense, Al Wakrah patiently attacked mismatches inside and used dribble penetration to create open corner threes. Their ability to convert second-chance opportunities in the fourth quarter proved decisive.

Standout players

Omar Al-Saad led Al Wakrah with 20 points and eight rebounds, consistently finding seams in Al Khor’s defense. Youssef Al-Hadrami added 15 points and five assists, while Hassan Al-Mohannadi chipped in 12 points off the bench.

For Al Khor, Khalid Al-Mansouri scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and Rashid Al-Kuwari finished with 12 points. The hosts, however, lacked enough scoring balance in the closing minutes.

Standings and season impact

The win gives Al Wakrah momentum in the Qatari Basketball League standings and reinforces their ability to close out tight road games. Al Khor will take encouragement from their third-quarter fightback but must improve their late-game execution and perimeter shooting if they are to climb the table.
