• Al Arabi stayed within striking distance thanks to its interior scoring and free-throw shooting.
• The final defensive possession sealed a valuable away win for Al Rayyan.

Tactical story

Al Rayyan’s backcourt controlled the tempo for long stretches, using ball screens to create driving lanes and open looks from the perimeter. Defensively, the visitors switched effectively and forced Al Arabi into several contested jump shots late in the clock.

Al Arabi’s best moments came when it played through the post and attacked the offensive glass. That approach kept the home side in the game, but Al Rayyan’s balance and late-game discipline made the difference in a contest separated by just one basket.

Standout performers

Al Rayyan’s leading scorer delivered a composed performance in the closing minutes, while the team’s guards managed the game well under pressure. Al Arabi received a strong interior effort and a productive night from its primary scoring options, but the hosts could not quite find the final answer.

Season impact

The win gives Al Rayyan an important result in the Qatari Basketball League standings and reinforces its ability to win close games on the road. For Al Arabi, the loss is a tough one to absorb, but the performance showed enough fighting spirit to suggest the team will remain competitive in the league’s upper half.
