ZKK Medveščak delivered one of their most complete performances of the season, dismantling KK FSV Women 80-59 in Croatia's Prva ženska liga. A blistering opening quarter set the tone, and the Zagreb side never allowed their opponents back into a contest that was effectively settled before halftime.

Match Overview

Medveščak started at a relentless pace, scoring 24 points in the first quarter while holding KK FSV to just 12. The defensive intensity was the story: aggressive on-ball pressure, quick help rotations, and a clear commitment to closing down driving lanes. By the end of the first period, the pattern of the game was already established.

The margin grew steadily thereafter. Medveščak led comfortably at the break and managed the second half without ever looking in danger, rotating the bench while maintaining the same defensive standard.

The Turning Point

There was no single decisive moment — the game was decided by accumulation. Medveščak's 12-2 run midway through the first quarter created a double-digit lead that KK FSV never managed to erase. Every time the visitors threatened to build rhythm, Medveščak answered with a stop and a quick score in transition.

The third quarter put the result beyond doubt. A 21-14 period, driven by efficient shooting and disciplined rebounding, extended the lead past 20 points and allowed the home bench to see out the game.

Standout Performers

Medveščak's offense was balanced and unselfish, with multiple players reaching double figures and the assist count reflecting genuine ball movement. Their guards controlled the game from start to finish, while the frontcourt dominated the paint on both ends, altering shots and cleaning up the defensive glass.

KK FSV's effort never wavered, and their fourth-quarter performance — sharing the period 17-17 — was the clearest sign of their resilience. Their best moments came when they attacked the basket directly rather than settling for perimeter looks, and a couple of young players showed composure in extended minutes.

Tactical Story

Medveščak's game plan was built on defense generating offense. They pressed selectively, trapped on the wings, and turned turnovers into fast-break points. In the half court, they worked the ball inside-out, using post touches to draw double teams and create open shots for shooters.

KK FSV struggled against that pressure, particularly in the first half when turnovers piled up. When they did establish their half-court offense, they found some success with ball screens and backdoor cuts — a foundation worth building on.

Season Impact

An 80-59 win is valuable in any league, but in the Prva ženska liga it carries extra weight: it strengthens Medveščak's position in the standings and sends a clear message about their defensive ceiling. Performances like this one, where the team wins comfortably while distributing minutes, are the hallmark of a genuine contender.

For KK FSV, the result is a setback but not a defining one. Their second-half response showed character, and their coaching staff will have clear priorities for the next training block: ball security and offensive patience against pressure defenses.

What's Next

ZKK Medveščak will look to carry this defensive standard into their next fixture, while KK FSV Women return home determined to convert their improved second-half showing into a full 40-minute performance.
