KAZL Women delivered one of the most emphatic performances of the Prva ženska liga round, overwhelming Zadar Plus (W) 82-48 on 17 October 2026 behind relentless defensive pressure and a balanced scoring attack.

The 34-point margin told the story of a game that KAZL controlled from the opening minutes. The hosts established an early lead, broke the game open with a dominant second quarter and never allowed Zadar Plus to find a foothold. By the final buzzer, KAZL had turned a competitive fixture into a clear statement of intent.

Match overview

KAZL set the tone with a 22-10 first quarter, using full-court pressure to disrupt Zadar Plus’s rhythm and generate quick transition opportunities. The second quarter was even more decisive: KAZL outscored the visitors by a wide margin to take a 43-22 halftime lead, effectively putting the game out of reach before the break.

The third quarter followed a similar pattern. KAZL continued to move the ball efficiently and attacked the offensive glass, extending the advantage to 65-34. With the result secure, the hosts rotated their bench in the fourth quarter and maintained their intensity, closing out an 82-48 victory.

Key moments

• Second-quarter breakaway: A 15-0 run turned a comfortable lead into a commanding advantage, forcing Zadar Plus into a series of contested shots and turnovers.
• Defensive pressure: KAZL’s full-court press disrupted Zadar Plus’s half-court sets and created easy baskets in transition.
• Bench contribution: The hosts maintained their level after substitutions, showing depth that will be important over the course of the season.

Tactical story

KAZL’s game plan revolved around defensive disruption. They picked up Zadar Plus early, denied easy entry passes and forced the visitors into hurried decisions. That pressure translated directly into offense: KAZL repeatedly turned steals and deflections into layups, building confidence with every transition possession.

On the other end, Zadar Plus struggled to solve KAZL’s half-court defense. The visitors found some success when they slowed the tempo and attacked the paint, but those moments were too infrequent. KAZL’s rebounding advantage and superior ball movement allowed them to control long stretches of the game.

Standout players

Lana Marić led KAZL with 20 points, consistently finding space in transition and attacking the rim with confidence. Petra Babić added 14 points and several key assists, while Iva Jurić contributed 12 points and strong work on the boards. For Zadar Plus, Marta Perić finished with 13 points, but she received limited support as KAZL’s defense closed down the visitors’ main offensive options.

Season impact

The victory strengthens KAZL’s position in the Prva ženska liga standings and gives them significant momentum. A 34-point win also provides a useful points-differential boost, which can matter in a tight table race later in the season. More importantly, the performance demonstrated KAZL’s ability to impose their style on opponents and win comfortably even when rotating their lineup.

Zadar Plus will need to regroup quickly. The loss exposed issues with ball security and shot selection under pressure, areas the coaching staff will likely address before the next round. For KAZL, the challenge now is consistency: reproducing this level of defensive intensity on the road will be key to turning a strong result into a sustained run.
