Jolly JBS Šibenik protected home advantage with an 84-76 win over Brod na Savi Women in Croatia's Prva ženska liga, riding a dominant third quarter to a result that was more assured than the final margin suggests. The Dalmatian side's balanced scoring and superior rebounding proved decisive in a game that stayed competitive into the final minutes.

Match Overview

The contest began as a genuine back-and-forth affair. Šibenik edged the opening period 22-18, but Brod na Savi responded well in the second, winning it 21-19 to trail by just two at the interval. The visitors' half-court offense was patient and effective, and their guards found gaps in the Šibenik defense with well-timed drives.

Everything changed after the break. Šibenik came out with far greater urgency, controlled the defensive boards, and pushed the tempo at every opportunity. A 24-17 third quarter effectively decided the game.

The Turning Point

Trailing 41-39 at halftime, Šibenik needed a response — and got one immediately. An 11-2 run early in the third quarter flipped the lead and forced Brod na Savi into a timeout. The visitors never fully recovered their offensive rhythm, and from that point on they were chasing the game.

The key was defensive rebounding. Šibenik limited second-chance opportunities and turned stops into transition points, which is exactly the formula that suits their roster.

Standout Performers

Šibenik's scoring was impressively spread. Their interior players anchored the offense in the third quarter, finishing around the rim and drawing fouls, while the perimeter shooters punished Brod na Savi whenever the defense collapsed. The point guard's decision-making was a major factor — she dictated tempo and consistently found the open teammate.

For Brod na Savi, there was plenty to admire. Their leading scorer kept the team within touching distance with a series of tough finishes, and their second-half effort never dropped. Free-throw shooting and rebounding, however, cost them dearly in a game where possessions mattered.

Tactical Story

Jolly JBS Šibenik played a pressure-oriented style, using full-court defensive looks in the third quarter to disrupt Brod na Savi's half-court sets. That aggression translated directly into offensive momentum. On the other end, their inside-out attack forced the visitors into difficult defensive choices.

Brod na Savi were at their best when they slowed the tempo and worked the ball through the high post. When the game became faster and more physical, they struggled to keep pace.

Season Impact

This is a meaningful result in the Prva ženska liga standings. Home wins against direct rivals are worth double in the race for playoff positioning, and Šibenik's ability to close out a tight game after halftime will be encouraging for the coaching staff.

Brod na Savi leave with a competitive display and clear areas to address, particularly on the boards and at the free-throw line. Their first-half performance showed they can trade blows with strong opposition — the challenge now is sustaining it for 40 minutes.

What's Next

Both teams return to league play with momentum to build on. Šibenik will look to extend their home form, while Brod na Savi will target a response on their own floor, where their half-court game has generally been more effective.
