ABC Santo Andre claimed a valuable road win in the Portugal Proliga on 24 October 2026, defeating CB Queluz 96-87 in a fast-paced contest that was decided by execution in the closing minutes. The nine-point margin reflected a game where both teams found scoring rhythm, but Santo Andre made the bigger plays when the pressure increased.

Match overview

CB Queluz started brightly in front of their home support, attacking the basket and forcing early fouls. The hosts moved the ball well and found open shooters, but Santo Andre stayed within touching distance by answering with timely three-pointers and strong work on the offensive glass. The first half was characterized by quick possessions and little separation, with neither defense able to fully dictate terms.

After halftime, the game tightened further. Queluz’s guards continued to probe the lane, while Santo Andre’s frontcourt used their size to create second-chance opportunities. The lead changed hands multiple times, setting up a tense final quarter in which possession management and free-throw shooting became decisive.

Key moments

The turning point arrived in the fourth quarter when Santo Andre put together a composed run built on defensive stops. A blocked shot inside led to a transition basket, and a subsequent steal forced Queluz into a timeout. Out of the break, Santo Andre executed a well-designed set that produced an open corner three, pushing the visitors into a lead they would not surrender.

Queluz fought back with aggressive drives and drew fouls, but they were unable to string together enough stops. Santo Andre’s late-game discipline stood out: they slowed the tempo, used the clock, and knocked down key free throws to keep the hosts at arm’s length.

Tactical story

Santo Andre’s ability to score in multiple ways proved crucial. When Queluz closed out hard on the perimeter, the visitors attacked closeouts and found cutters. When the defense collapsed, Santo Andre moved the ball to open shooters. That balance made them difficult to guard over 40 minutes.

CB Queluz, meanwhile, produced enough offense to stay competitive but were hurt by defensive lapses in transition and a few costly turnovers. Their rebounding effort was strong in patches, but Santo Andre’s extra possessions in the second half proved decisive.

Standout performers

Santo Andre’s backcourt controlled the game’s rhythm, mixing penetration with timely outside shooting. Their interior players battled on the boards and protected the rim when it mattered. Queluz had strong individual contributions on offense, but the team’s defensive consistency was not enough to close out the game.

Table and season impact

The result gives ABC Santo Andre an important road victory in the Portugal Proliga and reinforces their ability to win close, high-scoring games. For CB Queluz, the defeat is a frustrating one because they remained competitive for long stretches. The hosts will need to tighten their transition defense and limit empty possessions as they prepare for their next fixture, while Santo Andre will take confidence from a mature fourth-quarter performance.
